    3d is overrated. I don't like to have to turn my controller to peek around a corner and wont look forward to having to actually lean to get around a corner. I'd like it if they did something neat with 3d, like somehow giving me the same video on screen as if I were directly in front of it, so I don't see some strange angle that's no good. I'd get a laugh if they decided to release the original Doom on PSN or something as a gigantic practical joke.

    This must be what they meant by adding value to the console in 2009. Now I'm willing to shell out $400 for a PS3...


    Oh wait- my Sega Master System had rendered games 3D, and they sucked.

    I respect Sony and all... but umm... why? I'm perfectly fine with watching movies in 2D, and SD. HD's great. But 3D? WTF? I'm not really up to speed on 3D movie technology but will it be like the red/blue glasses up there or will they be like hte weird make ur eyes hurt ones on rides like Shrek, Terminator 2 and Honey I Shrunk the Audience or IMAX 3D types of things


    And uh... that 4D question.

    1. Height

    2. Width/Length

    3. Depth

    4. Time


    Height, Width, Lenght, and Depth are interchangeable based on the measurement..

    People don't use Time as a dimension since it's always relevant.

    Didn't we go through this whole 3D crazy a few decades ago??? I've seen previews for that "My Bloody Valentine 3D" movie and it looks like crap. Save the 3D gimmicks and tricks for those old Universal Studio attractions.

    @Soldier_CLE scratches himself, seems pleased.: I can see this happening for one reason: anything to avoid dropping the price of the console.


    Fast forward to 2009 comment threads: 'Sure the PS3 is $399, and the Xbox 360 is $200 with 20GB hard drive, but once you add in the cost of the 3D glasses for the Xbox 360 you will easily see that the PS3 is the superior value.'


    [yes I know the entry level X360 doesn't have a hard drive right now now]

    @oldtaku: I see that as well...


    Granted, at least in my daydreams, best dreams (and even hallucinations from the arctic blast that Northeast US has received the last few days.), I still picture the Sony execs with HDMI cables and USB cords wrapped around their necks at the gallows, with Sony employees, consumers and shareholders burning them at the stake with the corporate officers having their eyes gouged out through the 3D glasses.


    Note: The burning gallows are heated via Blu-Ray lasers and 3D glasses is used for kindling.

    @Orionsaint: aww yes, it was awesome! its soo cool when the missile hits you in the face, the effect is pretty sweet... not for those who have epilepsy or photosensitive issues though =(
