He received an anonymous tip from someone claiming to work for a large game distributor.
MS disclosed this SKU to us a few weeks ago—definitely not a fake story. Price, features, color are all correct. MS has told us that the data will be transferred via some sort of cable that will be included with the unit. The cable will also be included w/ the 120GB drive that will be sold separately (price TBD).

While only an unconfirmed rumor, I'd say this is as close to a sure thing as rumor can get. Microsoft would be daft to sell an upgraded hard drive with no way to move your old data over. A transfer cable makes perfect sense here. It's pretty much that or transferring data via the pricey 360 memory cards, and Microsoft would never make users spend extra money *cough* Xbox DVD dongle *cough* to facilitate functionality that should by all rights be included in the price.

<![CDATA[Game Crazy POS Lists Black 360]]> blac360mock.jpgSent in by several tipsters, reported in the Cheap Ass Gamer Forums, and confirmed personally by me this morning, video game store chain Game Crazy has in their POS systems a sku for a black 120GB Xbox 360. Retailing for S479.99 the sku shows a release date of May 1st of this year, which also happens to be my birthday (hint, hint). After calling several Game Crazy stores, most knew what I was talking about right away, with only one New Jersey store remaining clueless, and...well they are in New Jersey.

I cannot seem to find any confirmation from Microsoft about this, and it looks like only Game Crazy has this information...none of the EBGameStop stores I called knew what I was talking about, and several of them searched and found nothing in their computers. Your best bet? Take this as a story about Game Crazy's POS system and not official confirmation of the where, when, and how much. Thanks to CloudyWolf and several anonymous people!

<![CDATA[Is There A Black 360 Coming?]]>

Okay, we totally didn't report this when it was tipped to us early last week. An ad for Best Buy showing a Black 360? This is just some sort of mix-up: there's no way a random Gamespot banner ad is going to break the 360 going ebony. But it's getting so much press, let's just get it out of the way.

As reported at our sister site, Gizmodo, and every other frickin' site on the neck, Gamespot is currently featuring an ad featuring a black Xbox 360. "Is this simply a photoshop mishap? Is this an early leak? Is this just a freak accident from a wormhole? My money is on early leak."

Photoshop accident is hard to believe, and I don't doubt a black 360 is coming. But isn't an alternative that the ad designer just Googled up an image of one of the many black Xbox 360 replacement cases? Like this one? The angle is almost right, after all.

If this was a leak, it's hard to believe Microsoft hasn't stamped down on the ad yet.
