I went to Gamestop this morning hoping for the PC version of L4D2 for 30 bucks, as well as MySims Agents for the Wii for 20 bucks for my gf, and they had neither game. Thanks for those great Black Friday specials! (BTW I was in the store at 6 when they opened. They didn't have them to begin with, it wasn't that they were sold out.)
Three DVDs from an outlet store for $3 each (Groundhog Day, a French/Canadian copy of Slither, and a copy of the Bloom County Christmas special), and two games from Steam (Madballs for $2, and KOTOR for $2.50).
Probably not overly impressive, but I didn't have to deal with a single mob of shoppers on the way.
No video games for me today, just a trip to SoHo for a bit of clothes shopping. Uniqlo had the best sale afaik. It was pretty packed, but when the hell is SoHo not packed?
@Altima NEO: That's very true, for the most part, nothing newish was at any sort of reasonable price at BB or Game Stop. Heck the only "sale" at GS was buy 2 get one free on USED games.
I did find a few cheapies in the old games bin at the Santana Row Best Buy, but still nothing to go foaming at the mouth about.
I had a good Black Friday. I work grave hours at my place so being up and about in the early morning was no big deal for me.
It was a little chaotic in front of Best Buy, though, when a bunch of people for no apparent reason started congregating in front of the store, naturally forming a second line. In the end I got everything I wanted and probably had the most fun you're allowed to have on such a dreadful day.
I wanted to shop today, but I had to travel this morning. It sucks, because I wanted to get some good deals at Target. At the same time I was pretty much surprised at how Target and Best Buy had almost the same deals.
Are those two stores ran by the same corporation or something?
I experience Black Friday earlier today in New York City. No longer can I feel my back, arms or feet, the army of shoppers took not only the feeling from my very body but my soul. Literally! One of the shoppers must have mistaken it for half price and taken it.
I did end up coming up shopping areas with five bags, but considering the hell I went through I'm not even sure whatever is in the bags are still wearable, functional or alive.
Wow, that's pretty tame actually. I had to be at my store at 5 this morning (3:30 wakeup with a drive) and we had lines around the corner. Accidents in the parking lot, pushing and shoving, some guy threatening to sue me...the usual.
This was my fifth Black Friday morning worked, and it never gets any easier. I think a small box like Gamestop is likely easier than managing a bigger box like I have. We had almost $80,000 rung up in about an hour.
Sucks to be in retail today. Or any day, but today especially. It's even worse when you're the (only) manager.
yup the front of the stores are typically all Pink stuff. they are underwear, sweat pants, shirts....whatever else lol. i only know this because the wife shops at VS haha.
@Vecha: One more Month: Oh I know it's a brand. I own two pairs of Pink PJ pants. I'm quite aware of Victoria's Secret's Pink line of clothing and 'lounge' wear.
I gotta say, Columbia, MO was pretty tame today, then again I didn't go out until 10am, but there seemed to be the usual business at my Walmart and Gamestop, I was surprised at the little to no lines at both locations. I myself just bought one $10 game, I didn't see anything else worth grabbing this year.
From what I can tell from these pictures, stores didn't have any more volume than usual and the shelves are still well-stocked. Looks like a major bust to me.

Batman: Arkham Asylum: $39.99 @ kmart.
Considering that I purchased all the games I wanted prior to black friday, those 2 were a great deal and I got them on black friday.

Ordered it online though.
Steam's sales have been good so far. That THQ pack is a steal
