Problem is, not all gamers watch/care about the "Best of" awards. What they want is what they'll get and having that small print of being the "Best of" something is just extra intensive of thinking to themselves that they made the right choice.

@(Zombie) Goldwings: I have bought many games the were not even close to best of(SkyGunner and MS:saga for example)so i never listen to neither this "Games critics" or reviewer and just go with my gut feeling an so far not wrong on my choices of games.

We already went over this - no, just because a game gets good reviews from the press doesn't mean it's going to sell well.

Psychonauts is a shining example of this that always gets brought up.

Splinter Cell: Conviction (SCC?) really, really impressed me. Partially because I hadn't seen it for so long, and partially because the new direction they're taking is fucking awesome. Not only in terms of gameplay, but the in-game content delivery and overall style is simply fantastic. I've always loved the Splinter Cell series (except 2 <_<) and Conviction looks to be the best.

I, however, can't get over why people love Brutal Legend so much. I guess that's not accurate, I get why, but is it only me that notices how mediocre the gameplay looks? It seems like a very watered down hack and slash, even the animations don't look too great. It reminds me of games like Eragon or Jumper in terms of gameplay.

Sure the setting, and attitude, and style, and content is awesome, but can that pull the wool over enough that we don't notice the gameplay is ho-hum? Not for me, personally, but I definitely respect the creators/devs/publisher for putting something with that much imagination out there.
