@No I wouldn't like tea and crumpets: Half of those games pictured happen to be the first of their series. Mass Effect, LBP, Gears... They were not proven then.
Problem is, not all gamers watch/care about the "Best of" awards. What they want is what they'll get and having that small print of being the "Best of" something is just extra intensive of thinking to themselves that they made the right choice.
(DEAD) Goldwings - Remembered for his bravery and heroism... xD was starred
(DEAD) Goldwings - Remembered for his bravery and heroism... xD was unstarred
@(Zombie) Goldwings: I have bought many games the were not even close to best of(SkyGunner and MS:saga for example)so i never listen to neither this "Games critics" or reviewer and just go with my gut feeling an so far not wrong on my choices of games.
wasnt god of war 3 at e3 as a playable demo ? or was i imagining things ? I mean what the orange sauced pan cakes o.0. was old republic even playable o.0 i thought they just showed a cg trailer... ummm o.0.
@Michael McWhertor: well thats worrying, if its not as good as old republic and you nominated uncharted 2 meaning you enjoyed uncharted 2 better... ummm did they milk god of war 3 to a game that ranks badly ?
@batman88: I didn't play Old Republic, so I can't say if GoWIII was "as good as" that game. I can say that GoWIII did not inspire me to the point to nominate it for anything.
I really love Well Played. I wish I had something more interesting to contribute, but it's 2AM here and it's about time I went to bed, so I'll just express my appreciation of this column and leave it at that.
Splinter Cell: Conviction (SCC?) really, really impressed me. Partially because I hadn't seen it for so long, and partially because the new direction they're taking is fucking awesome. Not only in terms of gameplay, but the in-game content delivery and overall style is simply fantastic. I've always loved the Splinter Cell series (except 2 <_<) and Conviction looks to be the best.
I, however, can't get over why people love Brutal Legend so much. I guess that's not accurate, I get why, but is it only me that notices how mediocre the gameplay looks? It seems like a very watered down hack and slash, even the animations don't look too great. It reminds me of games like Eragon or Jumper in terms of gameplay.
Sure the setting, and attitude, and style, and content is awesome, but can that pull the wool over enough that we don't notice the gameplay is ho-hum? Not for me, personally, but I definitely respect the creators/devs/publisher for putting something with that much imagination out there.
@Kenny: You know what? Me too. I'm hijacking our Best Of E3 Awards and giving Uncharted 2: Among Thieves as our "Best Sequel" runner up. If Crecente has a problem with that, he knows where to find me.

Rock Band is the only exception to this.

But noooo.....
Personally, I'm looking forward to Uncharted 2 way more than Splinter Cell anything, but it didn't make the list.
