The amount of exclusive and limited release demos this generation is really getting absurd- on the both the 360 and the PS3.
Publishers should want everyone possible to get their hands on their demos. They want to sell us their product- the fact that we are expected to jump through all these hoops to determine whether or not we want to buy said product is kind of insulting.
Don't even get me started on the concept of exclusive demos you can only get with preorders.
@Bialia: Though I agree with you on the pre order demos, I can see why they are only doing the demo on 360. Seeing as the game was developed with the 360 in mind and later ported to the PS3 it makes sense that Platinum Games wants to push the version they feel represents the game the best.
Plus I'm pretty sure they are using this as a way to gauge interest in the game in a different way other than pre-orders.
At least you don't have to put any money down in order to get access to the demo. Just a bit of your time to show that they have your interest and possibly your support. Ya know? #bayonetta
@Bialia: EARLY ACCESS. The demo will become available to everyone else as the game comes closer to realease. The 40,000 are for people to get access to the demo this month instead of the first week of January or end of December. It's not like they are saying "Demo only for fans!!!" they are just giving fans early access to it. It's kind of like saying thank you for supporting our game.
It's like giving beta access to people who have registered to your site and have been following your game for a while. You want to give them a treat but also try to get some community response for the game. Easy free way to drive hype. #bayonetta
I think the fact that Tekken isn't quite the monster that it once was is interesting. I at the very least didn't expect Bayonetta to beat it. Well done Platinum Games. Also thats some good 360 sales considering the install base over there #thejapanesehardwarechart
@billysan: I'm well aware Tekken isn't the juggernaut it was then, but still those numbers are poor for a franchise like that, even if it has gone downhill #thejapanesehardwarechart
@excel_excel: It's always up and down relationship with me and Tekken.
The most favorite for me was, Tekken Tag while Tekken 5 wasn't that bad but I'm getting a mix feeling from Tekken 6.
Kinda wish that DoA would come back. I hated the XB360 version since the pressure sensitive buttons are gone so most of the character moves had to be tweaked but other than that it felt more balanced (besides the end boss Kasumi). #thejapanesehardwarechart
@GohanGVO: Yeah, Sin and Punishment 2 is doing INEXPLICABLY bad over there.
FF Gaiden is selling below expectations, but honestly, the game was barely even announced 6 months ago, so it's probably not worth worrying about anyways. Just another quickly shat out DS game to build up money to help finance their bigger projects. #thejapanesehardwarechart
@Archaotic: This is exactly why I'm not a big fan of SqaureEnix. No more real heartfelt, 'new' titles. I'm looking forward to FF13 as much as the next JRPG fanatic, but come on, we can stop with all the damn "FF spinoffs" that could just as easily be a new franchise. But no, apparently we can't make anything that will sell, so we'll add the FF moniker, and it will sell like cheap, delicious pancakes. SaGa2: Hihou Densetsu Goddess of Destiny was a fantastic remake, don't get me wrong, but for crissakes, SE can get off their asses and start acting like they know how to make RPGs. Because, as strange as it sounds to say this, they DO.
And this block of text probably contradicts myself, but damn, that's what this whole SE deal seems to me. I love what they do with RPGs, but I hate them for making everything somehow related to Final Fantasy. Damn you SquareEnix. Make that sequel for It's A Wonderful World already! #thejapanesehardwarechart
@GohanGVO: Anybody know how it did when it was first released.
I'm not that surprised, I haven't seen that much publicity for it,(I don't know if that's the case in Japan) in a now unusual gameplay style,(popular in Japan still?) and only the second in the series where the first was released nearly 10 years ago on the generation before last by a company which is known for great but fiendishly hard games.
It's disappointing on an aesthetic scale, I love the first game and would love to see this game do well. I know that I will be buying it when it is released but I can't see it selling that well.

@GohanGVO: Considering how little advertising there's been for Hikari no 4 Senshi in Japan, I'd say it's sold really, really well. There have been ads and hype for Bayonetta for months, and as soon as a release date was announced for FF13, massive advertising campaigns began (banners outside of convenience stores, life-sized Lightning cut-outs in stores, all that). Hikari no 4 Senshi has had very, very little advertising--it's had a lot less advertising than Dissidia had or FF13 is getting--but is still selling really well. The day it came out, I had to go to two different game stores to get it, and I bought the next-to-last copy at the store I finally got it at. So I'm sure they'll be localizing it; they're pretty good with doing that for FF games. #thejapanesehardwarechart
@STG7: That's comforting to hear. I reaaaaallly want to play this game, if only for the soundtrack. I am constantly leaving the game's Japanese website open just to hear the main theme over and over. It is astonishing how good that one track is.
@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: I keep worrying that the tiny wonderful bonuses like that will eventually outweigh the horrors of having to essentially play half a dating sim for girls in order to see them, and I'd have to triple dip for this game.
Edit: Actually, if it's out already, is there anywhere online that has compiled a list of all the new features yet?
@Enkur: Nothing of note yet, but expect to see tidbits popping up in the next week or two. And this pretty much sums up how relationships will be treated. #thejapanesehardwarechart
Is anyone else having problems with the iTunes version? iTunes has recategorized "Kotaku Talk Radio" as "No related items." It is not refreshing, and I can't subscribe to it. Am I alone with this? #itunes#kotakutalkradio#podcast#tips#kotakutalktadio
@Sarcasmancer: Yeah, I think it's that hair. Amano loved putting blonde hair on his women. The vague colors too, he always had a washy look to his art as well.
I don't get why they couldn't have just made her regularly proportioned. She looks like such a freak of nature.
Interesting note: Old artists from the renaissance used to elongate the figure as well because it was thought to be more beautiful.
God. I hate stylized art and character design. There's something inherently wrong with characters that don't look normal. Cartoons? Hate 'em. They make me vomit into my throat. Porky Pig's head is just too big, and the Roadrunner's head? Well, it's just too small. If those character designers and art directors thought that designing animals that didn't actually look like animals was going to appeal to people, they though wrong. Disgusting. It's the same way with comics.
And what the hell was up with Charlotte's Web? Spiders don't have a head of hair and faces that look human! I don't understand how people could like that sort of thing.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm jealous of all the coverage this game is getting, I mean, Uncharted 2 just came out, and it's the best game I've ever played, but is Kotaku posting about Uncharted 2 every day? No! I have to go into TAY every day and start an Uncharted 2 appreciation thread just to see it on Kotaku every day! I know that there are still news stories about Bayonetta coming out frequently, but that doesn't mean that you game journalists have to cover it. That's not your job. I guess that leaves me no choice but to try to convince people not to buy a game that I don't wanna play. Thank you, Kotaku, for making my life miserable by forcing me to respond to news articles about games I don't like.
@Rebochan: No, I just need people to validate my totally rational anger toward this game because of unrealistic proportions.....unless you have UiHug.jpg on hand? #bayonetta

Proportions are skewed to achieve an effect, to convey something about the character and this skewing of proportions is based off life.
For instance, children have proportionally larger heads and eyes than adults. So giving a character larger eyes/head gives them a look of innocence. Every time you see a well-designed character, there is a reason for each and every deviation from life.
In Bayonetta's case, however, her tiny head conveys nothing. It looks weird and doesn't transmit any character traits. This sort of error is forgivable in many cases, but not when you have to stare at the malproportioned character constantly. #bayonetta
@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: *gasp* Anyone else hear that? Its the sound of something...not quite sure what it is....but its flying over some of our heads a lightning speed! #bayonetta

02. Hikari no 4 Senshi: Final Fantasy Gaiden (DS) - 115,000 / NEW
I want to be elated by this figure, but these sales figures (according to GAF) are apparently rather low even for an FF-branded release.
I hope it still comes over here. The OST is too spectacular not to. :( #thejapanesehardwarechart
