EA: "hey DICE, I hear you were working on a game called Battlefield 3"
DICE: "well yeah, sure... but I mean, that won't be out for a while, and there are a lot of things we needed to fix in Battlefield 2... lots of people still play that"
EA: "DICE, I like you, I really do, but there is money to be made here and you are wasting it."
DICE: "the game doesn't even have proper widescreen support, sir"
EA: "people like bugs, DICE, it adds character to the game. it's like that old creaky swing set in your backyard. doesn't quite swing perfect all the time, but you love it anyway"
DICE: "sir..."
EA: "hey, did you notice how much money that Battlefield 1943 made, even though we only gave you five bucks and a dying hamster to put it together? how about some DLC, let's say, in exchange for some Dubble Bubble"
I hope they resolve their internal conflicts soon. I've tried every beta of the 1.5 patch thus far and they have always been stale. You have to during a 3 hour period around noon to find one of the two servers and be lucky enough to find players in them. At this point, my biggest fear is that even with a message from DICE after signing in, most people won't realize that a patch has been released. Which would probably lead to the community getting split up yet again over different versions for whatever reason.
I guess most people play Project Reality now anyway.
Battlefield 2 does work properly on 64-bit systems. But as you are having trouble installing it, it must mean that there could be a problem with your CD/DVD.
Make sure that the disk is not dirty, clean it if it is.
If the installation still fails, copy the contents of the DVD to your HDD in a new folder and install from there.
I had nearly forgotten about this, due to the ridiculous amount of delays it's undergone. IIRC, this was supposed to be out last summer.
Looking forward to it, though, and I'll definitely start playing again once the patch hits.
@Mit: Same here, I've even gone as far as uninstalling, but if a patch came out I'd be back in an instant. 1943 has only reminded me how awesome BF 2 was.
@flukielukie: it wasn't a crappy film. sure the whole bullet curving thing is silly, but not any sillier than any superhero movie. It was entertaining and had some good comedy.
@thecrocodilator: I agree.
I don't get why people say this movie is crap because it is silly.
I enjoyed the movie becasue I knew that I was getting into a movie that runs on the "Rule of Cool" and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The bullet curving aspect was indeed silly, but if you can get past the fact that it is impossible, then it becomes awesome.
Also, I have read the comic after I saw the movie. Yes the movie pales in comparison to the comic, but if you remove the movie from the comic then it is, as I said awesome.
@chamberoffear: It was a good movie. Just because it never reached the heady heights of the original material doesn't mean the movie sucked. Not as good as the original =/=sucked.
Watchmen Movie isn't as good as the comic and misses out an awful lot. It's still a good film.
Anyway comics tend to last several hours, Movies a couple of hours, so they gotta trim off some of the fat. It's a fact of Hollywood.
