While I know a lot of people are put off by the 15$, I personally feel that VOOT will be well worth it. (Yes, fully recognizing that other 'cast ports like Ikaruga and Triggerheart are only 10$)
Mostly it's the fact that we're getting a superior port (sharper graphics from preview videos, as well as color edit and net multiplay) for cheaper than a used dreamcast copy costs.
Not to say that the 15$ is necessarily warranted, (like many, i don't like the trend of all games being 15$ on XBLA anymore) I just personally know I have enough nostalgia and love for VOOT that I'm easily going to be buying it on day 1. Any other VR pilots are welcome to join me and throw it down. =)
@EdgeKun: You're forgetting the bestest reason! It's an HD port of arcade only ver. 5.66!! And it's online enabled. PLUS IT HAS SYSTEM LINK PLAY FOR LOCAL HEAD-TO-HEAD!!
I am a little annoyed that it's 1200, because there'll be less noobs to pwn, but on the bright side, there'll be less noobs to pwn.
Is 1200 high? Yeah. Am I getting an entire dreamcast game? Yeah.
On the other hand Outrun was basically an entire XBOX game, and it was only 800.....so maybe we really are getting the shaft. Oh well, online play is where it's at...
Someone needs to tell me how big Virtual On is. If I have the HDD space, I'll download it, or at least the demo. Never played a VO game before, the only experience I have with the series is its appearance in Super Robot Wars Alpha 3. Go Hat Man!
@LllusionX has a fanboy clone!!: Personally I find it to be the greatest mech combat game ever, but time hasn't been kind to it (loaded up the Saturn version at the weekend), so hopefully the XBLA version is a little more polished.
Well it's not like you have to buy it right away, you know. It's just there for when you do want to buy it. Send the newspaper to Sony instead, as the way they seem to like releasing more expensive versions of the PS3 rather than cheaper versions, I'm not sure they noticed.
I see what you did there. But a PS3 costs a hell of a lot more to produce than a port.
Especially when you consider that the Dreamcast was the first console to have a windows-based OS. I imagine a DC->360 port should be somewhat straightforward.
At 800 points, I would buy without hesitation. At 1200... I'm gonna have to wait for a sale.
@superberg: I'm really not trying to ridicule, and you are free to buy or not buy whatever you want. But it's only five bucks. That's less than a meal at McDonalds. I don't understand how five dollars is going to make or break your wallet. I get that there is a recession, and times are tough for people. However, if you can afford a ten dollar game, but not a fifteen dollar game, you might want to take another look at the way you're budgeting your money.
@moutski: It's not the same as Capcom DLC, and I know myself it sounds pathetic, but I kinda see it as a matter of principle. If $15, why not $20? $30? $60? At what point do the increases stop? As far as I'd like to believe, when people stop paying for them.
It's a hard thing to say given that $15 at this point still is a rather trite sum of money, and the game certainly is good enough to be deserving of that (and more than that considering what I paid for the original game). I can't speak for superberg, but I'm just not thrilled that the Live Arcade is no longer a place for cheap $5 thrills when the average price of the titles on it has tripled to $15 already. I still think this higher pricing scheme would be more easily accepted if Microsoft would just throw out a nice $5 arcade diversion here and there.

Plus if it was Shenmue, I'd play 46,000 points.

Its worth it, but I dont know how a 360 controller will do the twin arcade sticks justice.

Word is that it's approx 230MB

That'll cut things close, but it just might be doable. I'll check out the demo first and see how it controls, in any case.

I still have to get around to beating the first Banjo Kazooie on XBLA, so Tooie is out for now.
I'm eyeing VOOT, but I still have it for the DC, so iono. Customization may sway me as usual...

And before anyone asks why the two games were different, let's just say unnecessary censorship.
