Not bad. I got this one for $19.99 new from Amazon (thanks for the tip, Kotaku!) so $5.00 would still put it at $24.99. And while it isn't a classic, it is sort of a fresh game and kind of a fun sandbox/racer/platformer hybrid.
Traditional platforming is no longer relevant. We don't need more games like the old Banjo, and while Nuts and Bolts isn't perfect, it's certainly a more progressive approach to a very tired genre.
@AjaDL: I would kill for a real platformer nowadays. I played through the original Banjo after it hit XBLA. Long story short, I played through it to 100% completion. I want to see what can be done with a platformer with today's technology.
@AjaDL: i disagreed "Traditional platforming"is what we definitely need.true be told i don't have a 360 so i only have about 3 days experience Nuts and Bolts but god damn it the game was bad i really try to like it and see what other people like about it but maybe it's me but i couldn't see what everybody like about it but in the end it felt bad so i stop playing it.but that's not the case with my banjo in my old n64 i still play it(every so often when nostalgia hits)and i love every minute of it and it's the same with other platformer like the Sly Cooper series or jack and daxter series(no jak x though)and many other platformer to say"Traditional platforming is no longer relevant"is wrong.give me a old school platformer any day of the week heck any day of the year and if is good you will have my money in a heartbeat.
@TRT-X: Changing the gaming genre is what companies do when they want to bolster an IP. Bitching is what gamers do when they don't realize this. bolstering an IP is always good for a franchise.
@okenny :) ...building bridges (to hide under): is not the gamers don't realize this(at least i hope most of then do)is the they can support a game and not change the core of the game.for example look at the ratchet and clank series they improve the game with each new installment but the game play the made the game GOOD stay the almost the same.i'm not saying don't go for something new but like the reeeeaaally old saying "if is not broken don't fix it"
@Curse_Lily: RARE never set out to "fix" anything with N&B. They essentially forked the IP so now they have this style of game instead of having just another 2D platformer. They stated explicitly many times that this was not Banjo 3 and went as far as giving it a completely different name outside of the series t clearly establish it as something different. Where is Banjo 3? It hasn't been made. Think of N&Bs as WoW to WarCraft strategy games. Same canon (if you will) but distinguishably different genres. I think RARE was simply trying to mature the IP by diversifying it. May rejected the game simply because it wasn't the Banjo they wanted. I honestly believe if the game launched under the guise of a completely new IP, it would have been more successful because of all the baggage attached to Banjo.
@RockyRan: I never said it's a bad game. I was expressing my distaste that they would use Banjo for a game that is NOT Banjo. This game, to me, is like what Diddy Kong Racing is to Donkey Kong. A spin-off.
@Islandkiwi: Thank you so much for not posting, "I played the demo and made one car and I couldn't control it at all! This game is horrible!"
The vehicle building is robust and nuanced. The first few vehicles you build will not handle well, but it's not the game's fault. It just takes a bit of tinkering to get a handle on what works and what doesn't.
@Islandkiwi: If you're a creative person you'll have such fun once you unlock all the parts. My Mach 6 (from the new movie) is a blast to rocket around from one side of the level to the other jumping over enemies and flipping around in midair via the gyroscope, sigh... good times :)
@JokesJokes: That sounds fun. The truth is I got to the point where you have to start building and said "man, I just don't have the time to spare."
Bu that's the nice thing about Gamefly...it's okay to be fickle. Killzone 2 got sent back after two days, but I expect it'll make the rounds again when I start itching for an fps.
Coming from a personal perspective, the game could use a powerful gas-based engine. Gas engines and rocket engines perform a bit differently, but the "best" engine in the game is solely available as a rocket.
I hated the demo soooooooooo much, but I just ordered the game anyway. Weird what a "50% off sale" will do to a person. I figure my nephew may enjoy it, even though I probably won't.
i like franchises as much as you do but im not gonna praise a game just because it says megaman 10 or super mario universe or pokemon admantanium (x-men) and it sucks.
@gamebot: Sorry, I didn't mean to pick on you, I was just curious. I wasn't aware that prototype and infamous was out yet. It's just that you perplex me to the nth degree. I have no idea where your stance is on anything.
well i post regularly. You might see me spazz on some new news on project sora or about team ico's new game.
I have a wii and its collecting dust right now. the online of mario kart is keeping a pulse but it's not enough. the argument we had a while back with the mutant jigglypuff article.
yeah. you see.
im pissed because you don't see those type of games on 360 or ps3. All the kids stuff go on the wii and most of it is garbage. look. they came out with a game that was like baby parties and guess what. it was for the wii. not surprising eh? can't you see the pattern? All plush games go to the wii. like its a law now in this generation of gaming. why must the wii only be stuffed with horrible hashed up games? sure ps3 and 360 has its share of bad games but none come close to the wii. Im sad that nintendo is letting this happen to their console.
littleBigPlanet is a BAD-ASS (lol), awesome part plush game, so to say... it's on the PS3, so you know, which is not on the Wii, which means... yea, not all plush games go to the Wii.
=P
It's only habit that Nintendo endorses such games.
I completely agree that Nintendo has a terrible selection, except for some exclusives.
-I believe that Nintendo has to break the habit that it has so longingly used in it's business model, and endorse more higher quality parties.
Hmmm - I thought I kept hearing this wasn't that great, or at least it didn't seem like it sold very well. So, anyone that's bought this - is it worth it???

Youll notice Mumbo mentions something about a downloadable addon if you try to do more than that many parts.

"the section that Klungo insisted on contributing due to what he claimed was 'popular demand" "
He's obviously talking about KLUNGO SAVES TEH WORLD and it's basically guaranteeing new stages for that game.
Not that you would get it, considering bitter anti-N&B responses always come from people who've never even played the game.
