@balthaser: The awards included titles form '07 and '08 since there was no Bafta awards last year. Still not sold on COD4 getting Story and Character over MGS4 though.
i didnt like Mario galaxy either, seemed it was gimped to be just lots of small puzzle rooms(the planets) to custom for the wiimote..didnt for one minute feel like the good old mario games,i even liked mario sunshine better
Fable 2 is in best game award but then not in the gameplay section. pretty odd as that's usually the main criteria for a game and it's not got the best story.
@BanjoGinga: all wii games have tacked on motion controls, except for ones entirely based around them. mostly, the wii could have normal gamecube type games, but ever since they started that "waggle" thing, it needs to have some motion control in it or it's not wii. just like all ps3 games need trophies and rumble support now.
@xxXX_Insanities_Birth_XXxx: Because while LBP does kick a certain amount of ass it can be quite painful at times thanks to fairly simple models, poor resolution (720p) and lack of decent anti-aliasing on the PS3.
It still looks pretty damn fine but others provide a much more cinematic experience.
I recently revisited Assassin's Creed on 360 (1080p, anti-aliased) and for all it's flaws it's still visually stunning and the effects employed to indicate the flashback nature of the game blend perfectly and just add to that.
Gears 2 and, from what I remember, MGS look pretty sweet but in a more conventional way, they carry their themes and are eye-poppingly well executed, but not quite as stylised (I sure some will argue this but hey).
CoD4 was good but I would put it in the same class as the others and I haven't seen Dead Space so can't comment.
I guess it's down to your interpretation of Artistic Achievement, if it was Creative Achievement then yep, LBP all the way, Artistic Achievement...I could sit and watch AC all day.
@Xebu: since when was 720p considered "poor resolution"? i've seen 1080p games that run at 60 FPS that dont look nearly as good as LBP.(ninja gaiden sigma)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
A FPS game released back in 2007 beats MGS4 in story telling of this 2008 awards?!
You must be freak'n kidding me!

list the features and you'll be just as confused as i am. for be a pro mode alone, it deserves to be nominated.
now, as if it was even possible, i care LESS about the bafta game awards.

Mass Effect hands down for Story And Character for me, but we shall see.
Multiplayer is harder to quantify - COD4 Vs. Rock Band? How do you quantify that?
