Reiteration - Assault Heroes 2 This Wednesday

In case you weren't paying attention around the end of April, Sierra Online's Assault Heroes 2 is this week's Xbox Live Arcade release. The game picks up where the first left off, with our heroes realizing that the enemy the vanquished in their last adventure was merely a pawn of something much more sinister. The new game features enhanced foot combat complete with a dodge roll maneuver, the ability to hijack enemy vehicles (perhaps to ease you away from GTA for five minutes), and combat that takes you over land, sea, and eventually into the depths of space. Assault Heroes 2 hits the 800 MS point sweet spot and will be available early Wednesday morning.

Assault Heroes 2 Coming In May

Assault Heroes remains one of the best arcade shooter experiences on Xbox Live Arcade today - exactly the sort of game I used to play in arcades with my friends back in the day. Now Wanako Studios is readying Assault Heroes 2 for release next month, promising all of the action of the original and more. The new game adds hijackable enemy vehicles entering the mix, as well as taking the firefight into outer space for the first time. The game is due out on XBLA May 14th for the standard fee of 800 Microsoft points. In honor of the release date announcement, here's enough screens to create your own little Assault Heroes 2 flipbook.

XBLA Doom and Assault Heroes Get Cheaper

This week's Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday sees the addition of two new games to the Arcade Hits program, which take top-selling Arcade titles and tries to squeeze some more sales out of them by slashing prices. This week's new additions include Assault Heroes, which is a damn fine shooter whether you play alone or with a friend, and DOOM, which is...well, DOOM. If I have to explain to you guys what DOOM is you might be at the wrong website. Might I suggest an alternative? For those of you still with us, the XBLA version of DOOM features four-player online multiplayer and looks pretty damn old. Both of these titles will be available Wednesday for 400 points apiece. Hit the jump for the full press release, which includes a look at some of the upcoming XBLA titles you'll eventually be able to buy at half price. More »

Gripshift, Arkadian Warriors Come To XBLA

This week's Xbox Live Arcade releases include a racer born on the PSP and a hack and slash fantasy game with nods to Sega's arcade classic Altered Beast. Gripshift, from Sidhe Interactive, is a stunt racing-puzzle game, of sorts, featuring platforming mechanics combined with raw speed. It's joined by Arkadian Warriors, a hack and slash adventure from the team created last year's well received XBLA hit Assault Heroes. It's gimmick is that you and your co-op buddies can choose from one of three classes, each with it's own spirit animal. Both will hit this Wednesday, extremely early in the morning, for 800 Microsoft Points. Details on both are available at Xbox.com.

Small Arms Out, Assault Heroes In

I spent an hour or two playing Small Arms on the 360 last night and have come to decide that while I like it, it's a little too simple to be fun for long bouts of gaming. More »
