This PSP edition seems to retain all the key features from the AC franchise! it actually looks pretty polished, kind of reminds me of Chains of Olympus in terms of graphical quality! It looks like my PSP will finally be getting some major play time in November- GTA, LBP and AC! #assassinscreedbloodlines
Uhhh? "Strong contender for game of the year"? Really? I hadn't gotten those kind of vibes from your coverage so far. The vibes have been positive, certainly, but not "Game of the Year" vibes.
@Wolfnave: I don't know... I'm kind of excited for this new Creed- it looks like it's been improved on in every way! I think it would be kind of awesome if it indeed turned out to be game of the year! Enough shooting everything! Even though those two games are marvelous! #assassinscreedbloodlines
@Wolfnave: Really, Modern Warfare 2 is a really good game, but I think its not anywhere close to Uncharted 2 . By the way, a gamestop near my house already had MW2 used. I found that hilarious. #assassinscreedbloodlines
@pd771: Sure, I agree, but as the IW dudes said in the BonusRound episode I watched, "There are so many GOTY awards that we're sure to get at least one of them." MW2 isn't a particularly innovative 500lb gorilla, but it's still a 500lb gorilla. #assassinscreedbloodlines
@dreamfall: I agree... ever since "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open" stopped being played on the radio, i have been wanting more Creed... #assassinscreedbloodlines
@Wolfnave: Right, the so-called new stuffs are just new banners and emblems, perks & guns are 90% the same from CoD4, sure it looks great and I'm playing it diligently too, but innovation ? No. The Demon's Souls online messenger/blood strain system is more innovative. But we all know that small fan base cult games like Demon's Souls is never gonna get GOTY award, maybe if there is some game industry in-house award voted by ppl within the industry, otherwise awards are more based on sales and publicity. Same thing you get rappers as best singer of the year but no jazz singers will grab that. #assassinscreedbloodlines
Why is it that a PSP game trailer is always framed in a fake PSP? Why can't we they have the video strecthed to the player's border instead? #assassinscreedbloodlines
@rich8606: I'm guessing they don't want there to be ANY confusion that this is a PSP title.
Imagine someone watching these graphics and thinking it was the console version: "Ugh! That looks TERRIBLE! No way I'm getting that game when it comes out!" #assassinscreedbloodlines
@Wolfnave: Cats and dogs...living together... mass hysteria...
No i cant imagine anyone would want to play a psp game with psp graphics on a TV with a DS3 controller... looks at PSPGO specs...*facepalm #assassinscreedbloodlines
Having just finally finished the first AC last night I can honestly say I will never EVER play any of these games again. AC stole Halo 2's crown for worst ending ever.
Words cannot describe the pure anger I felt after drudging through that repetitive ass gameplay for hours only to basically be given the bird by Ubi Soft.
I know it isn't worth much but because of my feelings about the game I will be trading it in to GS ASAP. I don't care if it's worth $3, I never want that game in my sight again
And now I'm hearing they are saying that the next AC will also have a cliffhanger ending too. I wouldn't call that ending a cliffhanger, more like a slap in the face. Even if that is the case why the fuck would you tell us that? You lost at least one sale because of it.
@OhNo5-0: I share your frustration with the first game's ending, but if Ubisoft really is listening to complaints like they claim to, there is hope for ACII even if it does go for the cliffhanger.
One of my biggest issues with AC was that all was in character, with proper ascents and all and then in comes Altair, flat american accent, bad voice acting and all, bye bye suspension of disbelieve...
The story actually explains this. Its all due to the sci-fi element of the story. The anima (machine that brings him back into this memory) pieces together the different voices into english etc. The anima isn't perfect they say and thats why sometimes different enemies will speak in other languages as well. Altair sounds pretty modern because his memories are being 'played' by Desmond.
@Zentac: I wouldn't have minded the "modern/future day" segments if they'd actually gone somewhere with it. If there had been a couple more hours of gameplay with modern Altair escaping with his newly remembered skills, it wouldn't have felt as needlessly tacked on as it did.
@Zentac: Altair sounded GOD-AWFUL. I could stand everyone else just fine... but he was just so flat and he lacked the any distinctive accent... he killed my sense of immersion almost every time he spoke.
Just a blemish on what I believe to be the start of a great franchise.
@Communist Pope: It's not tacked on at all. That's why it exists in the sequel. I'm starting to wonder why people allow this in movie but not games. They've planned the storyline over multiple games. Eventually we'll play as Desmond and figure out his story.
@Shawnrw222: Well with all due respect, I never said that it was tacked on. I said it felt tacked on, which is of course a matter of personal opinion. If you didn't feel the same way, great!
As to why people allow multiple movie story arcs in movies but not video games, I'm certainly not against it. That said, I think the best series always have self-enclosed first chapters (and often, entirely self-enclosed, loosely linked chapters throughout). Look at Star Wars, The Godfather, Alien, or Raiders of the Lost Ark, and those are just a few examples. Even if none of those movies got a sequel, we still would've gotten one complete, cool story out of them. Can the same be said for AC? For me, no.
Which model of PSP? I know it isn't GO. But which model of the original hardware? 3000 I'm guessing. I'm still debating picking up another PSP. I had an original one when it launched... but after so few games I wanted came out, I ditched it. But now there are games I'd like to play. I held off so far thinking a PSP 2 woud be on the way soon, but seeing the PSPGO at E3 makes me think it may still be a bit. So I may yet pick up a PSP 3000. I think the Go is overpriced and still has most of the same problems, namely only one analog stick. As for the film? My money is on Assassins. lol. JK>
It's funny if they do add Kingdom of Heaven to this pack, as I bought KoH years ago and never watched it - I tried a couple times and couldn't get into it. Then I got Assassin's Creed last year and was dying to watch it and really loved it in the end. I think it would work, definitely. If you're enthusiastic for the game and the setting then Kingdom of Heaven becomes a real treat to sit back and watch.
@tetracycloide: Wow. They're there because if they weren't, people would complain. Apparently people will still complain when they do include them though. Must be tough having to please everybody.
Sounds like an excellent deal. If I wasn't going to by a PSPGo I'd be all over this.
I have to commend Sony for creating some very interesting PSP packs. With this and the Dissidia pack coming out, anyone who is interested in getting a PSP certainly have some good options.
What I'd like to see is a PSPGo pack of some sort, even if it's more along the lines of what Sony offered when the PSP-1000 launched. I remember it coming with wrist straps, a case, etc. Maybe Sony will package the Go with a voucher of some sort, or even credit for the PSN store much like Nintendo has done with the 1000 points you get with the DSi.
Even without a bundle, I can't wait for October to arrive. A Go, GT:portable and Assassins will make for one fun day for me.
@jayntampa: Only problem is Kingdom of Heaven, while an amazing choice, is two DVDs long. I highly doubt Sony would be capable of delivering a single UMD version that looked half decent.
My God of War PSP bundle came with Superbad so it's really anyone's guess.... Maybe Paul Blart.
PS its too bad the PSP isn't Assassin's Creed branded. That would solidify a sale for me.
