Exactly. Crackdown was an awesome concept, but there's so much more they could do with it. It saddens me they won't be taking the chance to do so, though it seems inFamous is picking up where they left off to some degree.

Hope this isn't true. The 360 could use an MMO that wasn't FFXI. Especially THIS one. I want MMO's, but I'm tired of the RPG genre.

As far as I've heard, it hasn't been cancelled, but the PC version is top priority and any console versions will come later so they can be designed to the team's fullest capacity. RTW has even hinted at a potential PS3 version.

Maybe if its running on Realtimes servers (as an MMO) and it goes to the PS3... we could finally see our first PS3, 360 and PC cross compatible online game?
Or would hell freeze over first.

Honestly, I could see PC/360 or PC/PS3 cross-platform, as that's been done before last gen with PS2/PC cross-platform online play for FFXI and Phantasy Star Universe.
But Microsoft won't allow any cross-platform online play with the PS3 in any games. Period. Criterion actually had cross-platform online play working for Burnout Paradise and almost shipped the game supporting it, but Microsoft made them patch it before it went gold to remove the ability to let PS3 and 360 players play with each other.

Guys, I want to care, seriously, but you haven't made it easy for me.

MMOs always take years to develop. People are still hyped for Champions Online and that was announced, what, in 2005?
05/19/09
05/19/09
Exactly.
05/19/09
As an MMO, they already have the uphill task of holding my interest for several months past purchase set before them. If I become bored and lose interest before the game even comes out, then it seems like they are defeating themselves here.

Sounds like me with Alan Wake or FFXIII pre-demo.

Actually, I believe that the best way to operate would be to announce the name and talk a little about it, but don't get too deep until way closer to launch. Let it be on people's radars so they know it's coming some day, but don't try to grab their attention until you know you can keep it and translate it into a purchase.

Now, I love me some character creation, and I'm willing to overlook a whole lot in the face of a good one (and the one for APB looks positively brilliant), but the more time they waste, the more likely I am to look past that character creator and see a game whose premise doesn't particularly interest me. The reverse may be true for some people; I don't know.
People need to realize the extremely temporal nature of amazement at innovation. Sure, their character creation is innovative, and it amazed me when I saw it. Now? A few years later? Seen it. Not amazed anymore. Whatever interest you kindled in me back then has waned considerably. Wouldn't it have been better to strike while the iron's hot?
Just time this stuff better, is all I'm asking.

...waht is this game? I never heard of it.

RTFA - it's clearly stated.
P.S. RTFA = Read The Fucking Article

Seriously? Theres some previous videos on Kotaku. Its like... the ultimate Cops and Robbers MMO.
You can play as a cop, or as a regular 'schmo'. All in a world full of real people.
If you steal a tv from a store/do something bad, then a little blinker goes off for the cop players in the game, who can respond if they so choose. But responding to a guy swiping a tv in small fry.
if you watch the previous gameplay vids they have, theres a group of players who decide to steal a whole armoured truck, and it shows all the cops across the city basically going 'holy shit!' throwing their blinkers on and going after this truck, that has gangsters hanging out every window firing machine guns trying to get away.
They drive right by a guy stealing a tv and ignore him, haha.
05/19/09
Being able to play as a corrupt cop is always nice, though.@Gyaruson:
No, it's not. GFY

I don't forsee any Lag, so much. GTA handles 16 players pretty well in P2P hosting.
Now if they were running it from RTW servers, and had the city blocked off in sectors... it'd just be like WoW. Or other assorted RPG.

No. Gamefork fucking said hes already gotten a review copy of it. As his first post.
Throwing a handful of darts with your eyes closed and managing to hit something with one or two of them doesn't make you some sort of fucking magician.
05/19/09
Yeah, makes you wonder...
05/19/09
And by saying he already said he has a review copy of it
Hes full of shit. The games not even close to being that ready yet. Why would Gamefork be given a copy to take home and play, when its obvious he's so unimportant in the industry that he doesn't give a crap about NDAs?
05/19/09
He said he picked up a review copy of the game from Microsoft. The way RTW is talking, the game isn't even close to being finished, and more importantly...
Microsoft isn't publishing it. Why would he drive to the office of a company that's not publishing a game to pick up a review copy of a title that's nowhere near finished?
Review copies don't get printed until a few weeks before release, not MONTHS. :P

05/19/09
So you believe that a guy who has played Alan Wake, has a review copy of APB, knows the big Konami secret that nobody else does and is 'too into this!' to post any screenshots or pictures of anything evidence related as well as follow up on his own promises of 'update tonight' is credible?
Except for the fact he's got them all organized into a single twitter, I've seen all those 'facts' on Kotaku before, from a multitude of other posters.
And a review copy of APB? Really? REALLY?
