The concerns over SecuROM copy protection issues will soon be a thing of the past. In a thread posted on the 2K forums by a user named BioshockClassAction, Levine lays it on out.
I've followed up on the circular email with securom and we are working on this issue. I agree, it sucks, and we need to get that sorted.

I've been told by 2k that we will.

-Ken

Great! The problem will soon be solved, just like when Ken responded to the widescreen issue...which led to a very unsatisfactory result. That couldn't happen twice, could it?

<![CDATA[ BioShock's Widescreen Pissing People Off ]]> What's wrong with this picture? Well the normal area shows what the BioShock demo looks like on a widescreen monitor. The red areas show the extra space added when the game is played in standard 4:3 ratio. This is not how widescreen is supposed to work. Instead of slicing the top and bottom off of the image, widescreen should allow players to see more on either side. I have to agree with Paddy the Wak from the Widescreen Gaming Forum who posted the picture above - awwwww pants.

Now the 2K forums are alive with the sound of angry, as more gamers verify the problem on their PCs and 360s, with one of the latest posts as of this writing confirming that the screen clipping appears on the 360 retail version as well.

Shoddy, shoddy work 2K. People invest in widescreen display solutions to see more, not less. 2KB's Chris Kline was even asked specifically if widescreen would display additional image as compared to 4:3 in this thread here.

You will see more in widescreen. We use a different projection matrix; there is no squashing or stretching of the image involved.
So what happened? So far no one officially has commented in the 2K forum post. Just a lot of angry people canceling their preorders until the issue is addressed and fixed. While it may seem like a piddling issue to some, cutting off the top and bottom of the screen not only produces less picture, but also has the effect of blowing up the textures and making the camera view tighter than it was before due to cramping.

Would this be enough to keep you from purchasing BioShock? I'm still on board, but then I feel I have a certain obligation to pick up and play one of the biggest titles of the year. Hit the link below to read the full 2K forum thread, filled with disturbingly rational discussion and cool heads. Seriously, it's almost spooky.

<![CDATA[ Capcom Responds To Angry Fanboy Mob ]]>

After denying rumors of a cross-platform port, Capcom finally announced that Devil May Cry 4 will be hitting the Xbox 360. PS3 diehards freaked and whipped up a bat-shit insane petition protesting the publisher's decision. To pacify the pissed, Capcom's Christian Svensson has this to say:

We are certainly moved that people are so passionate about our products that they would go to such extremes. At the same time we feel that allowing more people access to our content pleases far more people than it displeases (after all, we're not denying DMC 4 to anyone that was already going to get it). It really is the best decision for the company and for consumers.

That makes way too much rational sense for any fanboy to understand.

<![CDATA[ I Will Sony No More Forever: Angry Gamer Dumps the Big S ]]>

Yet another furiously-typed breakup letter to a major franchise is making the rounds, this time from a fed-up Angry Gamer to his formerly beloved Sony.

Then you unvieled the price. Six hundred fucking dollars! Do you even know how much that is? And then there's the exorbitant markup that you gave the European market. I can't afford that. Nobody I know can afford that. And then you tried to placate me with excuses about how it's cheaper than other things, like that fancy computer from Tron. And like a fool i believed you! I even put down a pre-order! Looking back now, I realise i was being naive and that you were just using me for cheap thrills. Well, no more.

The litany of sins goes on, reaching a conclusion when the Gamer smugly confides that he has taken up with a more reliable beau.

The letter is funny, yes, and I enourage you to click over and read it all. But I would like to use this post to make an official request. Please send me good things about Sony. Specifically, game-related things. PSP things that are fun or exciting, Playstation stuff, maybe even some good PR choices or witty and encouraging blurbs from Sony people. I'm asking nicely, now. I have a PSP and a PS2 and I want to go back to optimism, don't you?

Send glad tidings either to the tips address or directly to me.

Dear Sony: It's Over [Angry Gamer, via Digg]
