Been trying for like 2 days trying to get run, but its been nothing but problems, which will now never be fixed, fantastic. I guess its a free game, so no sweat off my back!
Yeah, it's one piece of shit alright. I was hoping to get my tactical FPS on again, as it's been a while since I used to rock those ... back when Tom Clancey's Ravenshield was the shit!!!!
Aye, one of the worst launches I've seen, still have not been able to sign on properly and no saving of progress in training whatsoever. Don't know if its fully the devs fault, but this never should have been released this soon.
I'm still finding it hard to believe that they didn't prepare for the massive influx of users, releasing a free game is one thing but advertising it and releasing it on Steam with Steamworks integration is a whole different beast as everyone even slightly interested in FPS's are at least gonna try it. On that note, I wonder if the auth servers are up yet? I wanna play :(
@DrunkAus: No you dont. Once you get in game its just as buggy. Did the training missions about 3 times earlier never saved one. Ok fine. Tried to play some multiplayer wouldnt work at all. Opened a port and hooray it worked once. Couldnt connect ever again. Gave up for ever
Why is this game still being made? Its just a ploy for the U.S. military to relate to teens (I.E. video games) so they can get them to join to fight wars for money and greed.
@Estaj: What saddens me is that although this post may seem trollish, it's pretty much true. Estaj is entitled to his or her opinion -- at least respond with an educated and well thought out rebuke if you're going to participate in the conversation.
@ProfessorOak: Which part is true? Let me guess, you really believe we fight wars for money and greed? Give me a fucking break.
And to answer her question, it's still being made because the military is a VOLUNTARY organization, so they have to recruit. Of course, if you like, we could just go back to the old days and draft everyone and save money on recruiting.
A draft wouldn't fly in this day and age unless WW3 was looming on the horizon. If you thought the backlash for Vietnam was bad, a draft over this fiasco would result in anarchy.
Besides, its career suicide for the president. You think Obama would piss away everything he's gotten?
I'm having a hard time swallowing this after they allegedly removed a competitor from the GDC design competition for sexual themes. U.S. military propaganda / killing simulation: OK! Suggestive sexual themes: Oh no, no, we can't have that.
@ProfessorOak: Yeah youre overreacting. You say this industry shy's away from sexual themes- yet the theme for that GDC competition WAS a sexual theme. "My first time" was the theme. So you're basically complaining about something that isnt happening, and then saying violent games get some kind of free ride.
Hence the relevance to the Steam/Valve related topic in the first place. At least know what you're talking about if you're going to accuse of me "complaining" about something.
@ProfessorOak: No shit youre talking about Valve. Doesnt change the fact youre acting as if this is taboo in the industry when it obviously isnt. Once again. Youre complaining about something that isnt happening.
@notijkabob: I used to play a hell of a lot of AA during the version 1 and earlier 2 days (maybe not so early, up until around 2.6 I think). Then too much started changing and I started losing interest.
Hopefully my laptop can handle this game, cause I'm interested for the most part. Apparently you have to re-register your account name which I haven't done. Let's just hope nobody else takes it.
@ZackRI: The second America's Army covered the coveted Special Forces 18-series field MOS (Military Occupational Specialty), while also featuring various Soldiers that were noted for certain events that occured in Operations Enduring Freedom AND Iraqi Freedom.
Looking at the game in review, the game was fun, but I never remembered MOUT training being what they showed on there. (Then again, when did I expect a game to be 100% real?)
No less, AA2 exists and should still be available for download.

Not likely.
