Honestly, I never had a problem with the Miis on the Wii either. Kind of cute, useless little people.
The avatars are like Mii 2.0. Im certainly not going to be running out and buying clothes with real life dollars or things for them, but I didn't mind making one. And yeah... they turn out looking alright.
The dash is starting to grow on me. Have you seen the party mode yet? When you and some friends are in party mode, you all look like you're in a 'party' on your friends list, your avatar and your buddies avatars stand around and talk. You can also see your buddies in a party when you're not there, and invite yourself. Youll even see people not on your friends list in that party.

Indeed, I don't think I've ever seen or heard anything intelligent spewed from someone's mic. Unless profanity, racial slurs and anti-semetic remarks count.
