@Witzbold: Um... one would think the allmighty, japan-living and popular Witzbold of Kotaku would have a PS3 which can play all of its games due to being region free and all....
@Alex_Mexico: I usually dont buy things on the PS3 unless its an exclusive.
Though that "might" change due to MS cock blocking anyone outside the US from the store.
I was not expecting Afro Samurai up there only because I didn't think the anime was THAT popular. I also heard the game wasn't too great despite its art, but then most good games don't sell anyway.

@(Zombie) Goldwings: It was a good, old fashioned slash-em-up. didn't do anything revolutionary. Beautiful graphics, well done voice acting, but INCREDIBLY short.
Tales of Vesperia....maybe if they'd released it in europe a bit earlier, rather than announcing the PS3 version before that was released they might have seen a few more sales.
@Hyperfludd: Fine, but it's a trend title, and it is horrible. I'll take back the shovelware part, the balance board did work just fine, and the graphics were ok, there was just... no reason to play it. It is among the least engaging of games.
@nico1606: but 5 games could sell more than that in 3 months. can't they? If it was one or two sure. but this is their current top 5. Well they'll see a boost with tekken no doubt.
Tales of Vesperia should be on this list but it's not and it never will be. Why? I blame every single 360 owner out there who refuses to buy such a wonderful game. Seriously, put down the Halos and the CoDs and play a real game for once. xD
This message brought to you by the satirical gamer who wishes people would buy Tales of Vesperia but knows it's a long shot.
@Phazonmasher: It might not be on the list because it didn't come out during the quarter the list is for.
I'm just throwing that out there.
You know.
Because it's in the article.
@Phazonmasher: did you just come out of a time machine, or do you enjoy selectively covering up words in an article? The sales period covered does not include the release window for ToV, so of course it's not going to be on the list.
Great game that deserved more attention in the states, yes, but the demo was awful in terms of grabbing a new audience and you missed the timing of the comment by several months.
GOOD! I, for one, am tired of lazy ass devs with second rate games. And this includes lazy ass devs that don't port shit to other platforms...looking at you Valve...take your head out of your ass and port great games to other platforms...left 4 dead to PS3 please...and Bethesda WTF? no Fallout 3 DLC for PS3? and 360 owners deserve Killzone 2 Guerilla...imagine how much better it would be on Live?
sorry if I am pissed and ranting...I got off work early and drank a bottle of wine...long week in the IT industry
@Seiven: The only reason Killzone 2 would be better on live is because my friends won't get off their lazy asses and turn on their PS3. I mean they have one, and they like the game but, they refuse to play it. It's mind boggling.
@Theoutlet: really? damn we, as gamers, owe it to our culture to get them off their asses...KZ2 is Amazing...I love Live and wish that PSN is one day as good, but damn...really? that lazy?
I want this game to be good. And really, half of what made the old games awesome was the over the top gore. Chainsawing dead babies or midgets or whatever those things were, then chainsawing a beating heart and making blood come down the entire screen? It's so over the top it's great. All those exploding monsters and headless enemies that are headless because you punched off their heads but they keep fighting anyway? I loved it. Question is...can you get away with that sort of ludicrous horror gore in a game anymore? The obvious answer might appear to be yes, since we've done it before and we've seen what games like GTA and God of War do, but back in the day, the Splatterhouse games were about pushing the limits of what was acceptable. To be truly memorable, it'd have to do it again. And if they do...well, bring a good umbrella to shelter yourself from the shitstorm.

Ninja Scroll has.. machinery.. and some camera- work, as well as dialogue, that suddenly removes the series from the original setting. Samurai Champloo has things like baseball, the music, or graffiti. And Afro Samurai does the same thing with hip- hop.
It's not a good term, "futuristic feudal Japan" - but then again it's not something you can describe all that well, anyway.
Beautifully rendered, well-crafted and flowing free with a few problems regarding the combat and such that are almost drowned out by RZA and Samuel L. Jackson doing what they both do best.
It's a really really fun game if you can get past the few flaws mentioned above.

The demo was more than enough to convince me not to get it, and this is coming from a Die Hard beat 'em up fan.

Not bad for a 3 month span though.
