Although I question the trailer's choice of using Guns N Roses, I also find the cast to be... a bit off key. I mean, John C. Reilly? Jennifer Connely? Marty Mcfly's DAD? Doesn't mean I won't check it out, though
Haven't we had creatures made of burlap since 1995 with Nightmare Before Christmas? Sackboy is like a less imposing, less evil Oogie Boogie thing, and not filled with bugs...or is he?! Who has ever seen inside of a Sackboy? The entire game could be setting up a Tim Burton sequel to NBC with a tiny adorable army of Oogie-Boogies!
When I first saw sackboy, I thought, "gee, they are making a game about those little knitted japanese dolls that all the japanese middle-school girls have?" Anyone else living in Japan should know what I'm talking about (I don't know what the hell they're called). And then I quickly thought to myself: knitted dolls have been around for ages, it's only a coincidence.
Why the hell other people don't understand that two things can happen near the same time and share the same style without being based on each other is a complete mystery to me. It's just concurrence, people! You don't think that anything that has been done isn't going to be done again, do you?
@YardGnomeNinja: The funny thing is that your description is kind of indicative of the problem. I really hope that the general gaming populous aren't devolving to a state where they can only make comparisons and contrasts based on key gaming touch stones as reference.
I find the LBP based ones especially annoying because we are dealing with people with even a limited background in games.
@MosesMonster: I recognized that. I was just highlighting that's how many gamers really think. I irony of your joke is the reality. This is made even fresher by the Ninja Blade post where people begin piece-milling games that it's derivative of.
...
I kinda want to pass a new rule. If a game has to be defined by three or more games then it's offering something different in that you have to play three or more other games to get the same experience. As absurd as that sounded, it feels much better to me than people saying Killzone 2 stole from Wolfenstein 3D because they both are FPS because that what these people sound like.
@InAction: He does sorta look like Sackboy in the still shot above, but when you actually see the full body in the trailer...not so much. The proportions are more human than smurf.
That was probably the most fluid looking of all Tim Burton's animated projects. I am very interested even though I would've preferred some dialouge over a G 'n R song.
shatteredhalo :: Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more was starred
shatteredhalo :: Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more was unstarred
Ah, I see that. My mistake, not reading fully on a games blog.
*sad face*
Lost all interest now, haha. Naw, I'll probably get around to seeing this now, way long time in the future, when it hits DVD. Goddamn theaters just aren't worth it anymore.

I am incredibly excited for this, I must admit. Leave it to Burton to give me, if nothing else, something different.

Heck, the only similarity I saw was the "fabric", the rest were way different.

For reals, Im now completely interested without having a clue what its about yet. Time for some research.
Also: Some big names voice-wise going on there.
