    @emwurst: Uh, because plenty of 7-11's all around the country have liquor licenses. I'd guess the reason 7-11's in the DC metro area don't obtain isn't because of crime but because the dedicated liquor store industry is pretty strong in the area. Hell, I only know of one grocery store that can stock beers, and I'm pretty sure that's because they haven't remodelled yet and haven't had to renew their license. And even then they can't sell on Sundays.

    7-11's carrying beer and wines would put a hurting on the liquor stores, and they have a strong enough presence that I'm pretty sure they can lobby to keep that from happening.

    @Sir-Lucius has no pictchar!: Maryland has varying laws, but for the most part, the way I understand it, spirits are controlled. If you don't know what I mean, allow me to give you an example: I live in Oregon. Oregon is a state that controls alcohol, in particular, distilled spirits. This means grocery stores and other convenience stores cannot sell liquor. You have to go to a dedicated liquor store to purchase them. This is to prevent minors from having access to places that sell liquor, by having a store you have to be 21 just to be in.

    @Dead Giveaway: Hah, I don't think I've ever spent more than $25 in a 7-11 at once, and that was buying a bunch of energy drinks at once. I don't think I could imagine spending $350+ in a 7-11 in one go.

    This, and now Domo-kun is coming to America. The U.S. 7-11 is becoming more and more like it's Japanese big brother everyday.

    Here is domo-kun, American style.

    And yeah, I would consider pre-ordering this, but my local 7-11 doesn't carry games.

    @bakagaijin: That is absurdly old news. Sure, it's new to 7-11, but not the least bit new to America. Have you been in a Hot Topic in past...probably 4+ years? Not to mention Target stores had a similar promotion of Domo going on either end of last year or beginning of this year.

    Yeah, but based on the beta MAG really isn't very good. The fundamental gameplay just isn't enjoyable and I really can't see it being fixable in the short term.

    @SacGamer: You must not play shooters then. Not saying that MAG is bad as it has been on my list to purchase when it releases, but trust in me that the good shooters are substantially different from one another.

    @SacGamer: That's like saying an RPG is an RPG, or a rhythm game is a rhythm game, etc, etc.

    There are numerous reasons MAG could be better or worse than other shooters, just like how there are numerous reasons FFXIII, Resonance of Fate, or Magna Carta 2 could be better or worse than other RPG's available.

    Oh, yes. 7-Eleven.

    I see commercials for it on TV all of the time. But I have never seen one. In fact I think the closest one is more than 100 miles away.

    What are they like?

    @AncientUnknown1: They are your typical convenience store, but they do carry a little bit of everything, so there is more variety than your typical gas-station type store. Kinda like a mini-mini-grocery store.

    They are a Japanese company by the way. In fact, they look pretty much identical to the ones in Japan.

    @bakagaijin: I remember about that. One of the funniest things in business. 7-11 starts as an American company. Decides to start up a Japanese subsidiary. Said subsidiary grows so quickly it then buys the American parent company.

    Now that is comedy.

    @AncientUnknown1: Like a convenience store. You have an AM'/PM? Or any other type of convenience store? Pretty much like that, only ever so slightly bigger. Not all of them carry video games. They have a nice selection of snacks and drinks. They've started carrying semi-decent sandwiches at a few near me.

    When you say you haven't seen one, it boggles my mind...I think I have like 4 or 5 within a 10 mile radius of me. No joke.

    @AncientUnknown1: It really depends on where you are. Where I'm currently at in MD there are 3-4 within 10 miles of each other. Whereas I think there are less than 10 in all of Manhattan.

    Great, yet another reason to be stuck in line at 7-11. First the old people came for the lotto, then the service industry people came for the taquitos, now the kids will be standing there trying to explain to someone who *really* doesn't care that they'd like to pre-order a video game.

    Well if they do get around to fixing this ignoring street dates business, then there goes my only incentive for finding and visiting a 7-Eleven. I haven't been to one since I was maybe 8. Younger maybe..


    Round these parts, we have pretty much just Dunkin' Donuts and CVS. There are so many Dunkin Donuts around, the state is more or less officially sponsored by them..
