Released back in 2005—two years before the world exploded over Wii Fit—the J-Mat featured four buttons that allowed users to follow along Chan's aerobics routine while software tracked fitness over time. It was fairly expensive, costing $90 and requiring a $80 XaviXPORT console to operate. And, of course, Nintendo didn't package it with the Wii global phenomenon.

Thanks to YouTube, we even have a clip of the product in action:

Oh, but before all the fanboys freak out, we just wanted to clarify that we realize Jackie Chan didn't really invent Wii Fit's Balance Board. That honor goes to Amiga.

<![CDATA[ Scary Fetish Birdo Makes Me Cry ]]> The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser.Wow. You know, living in San Francisco for eleven years and attending numerous Gay Pride celebrations and the Folsom Street Fair, I thought I had seen everything. But after seeing this photo which was fished from the muck of 4chan by the lovely tentacled beasts at Ectoplasmosis, I realize I was wrong. Poor Birdo, it's not enough that he/she is sexually confused and had to go through a very public sex change, but now she has been rubber fetishised. For once I am left completely and utterly without words to describe my feelings. Twenty bucks says that's no lady which in this case would be oddly appropriate.

Make the jump to experience the horror at full size.

<![CDATA[ Professor Layton's Curious Desktop ]]> Up from the terrifying depths of 4chan comes this terrific Professor Layton desktop. No don't worry, I didn't sully my hands raking through the 4chan muck. Thankfully the BBPS' Dan Zuccarelli has done all the work so all we have to do is enjoy it. Thanks Dan! Also thanks to the unnamed 4chan poster who create this so we can carry the wonder and magic of St. Mystere with us wherever computers are found.

<![CDATA[ The Life Ending Adventure Explored ]]>

We posted a quick note about current Flash game obsession The Life Ending Adventure the other day, but didn't have the necessary skills (or patience) to actually get very far. Other obsessives may want to check out this near-expert level run through of the ASCII-themed game loaded with 2chan and video game allusions. Sorry, I'm consumed by this thing!

<![CDATA[ New English Language Street Fighter Manga Coming ]]>

For all the things that Street Fighter adaptations have gotten it so wrong (Jackie Chan doesn't count!), here's hopefully some happy news! A spate of new SF manga are making their way to the English speaking world. From the press release:

Hot off the success of ONIMUSHA: NIGHT OF GENESIS, Udon is kicking its Capcom Manga line into high gear with three new STREET FIGHTER manga series! First up, April sees the release of the STREET FIGHTER ALPHA Vol.1(of 2) Manga, an eagerly anticipated manga series finally adapted for the English audience. Fan-favorite characters Like Ryu, Chun-Li and Akuma are brought to life through the explosive story and art of popular manga creator Masahiko Nakamura (Anime: Sadamitsu the Destroyer). Prepare for all-out martial arts action as Street Fighter heroes battle against the forces of the evil Shadaloo crime lord M.Bison.

Next, in June, Udon brings you the STREET FIGHTER II Vol.1(of 3) Manga by popular Japanese artist Masaomi Kanzaki (Xenon, Gun Crisis). For the first time, fans can enjoy this classic manga faithfully adapted, uncut and unedited. See the best fighters from around the world face off in the ultimate martial arts tournament. But behind the scenes, an evil crime boss has a hidden agenda-to use the world's greatest warrior as his next living weapon!

Then in July, the spotlight falls on one of Capcom's loveliest ladies in SAKURA GUNBARU! Vol.1(of 2), a high school action-comedy sure knock your socks off! See how Sakura established herself as one of the most valuable players in the Street Fighter universe. Beautifully illustrated by artist Masahiko Kanzaki, this series also features the introduction of the popular SF Alpha character Karin, Sakura's archrival!

Looking forward to it. Well, more than any future Street Fighter cinematic rehashings.

<![CDATA[ Ebi-Chan. Did You Hear Me? I said EBI-CHAN ]]>

She's Japan's biggest model and trendsetter. Her name is Yuri Ebihara, affectionately dubbed "Ebi-chan" by all ("ebi" also means "shrimp" in Japanese). She's hocked McDonalds shrimp burgers, digital cameras, turned out flat performances in TV dramas and has appeared in countless women's fashion mags. Next up, Ebi-chan will be starring in ads to promote the Puyo Puyo DS game. Some gripe against her for always having the exact same expression. EVERY TIME. But, who cares? It's Ebi-chan. And there's Sega logo kissing involved.

<![CDATA[ Sega Chan Will Crush Nintendo ROB ]]>

I'd love to see the burly SEGA CHAN take on Nintendo's diminutive ROB in a grudge match. ROB's non-existent graspers wouldn't stand a chance against the tiny paws of the might SEGA CHAN, never mind that the monstorous SC weighs in at 419 pounds. I'm going to have nightmares tonight.
