Don't even get me started on how they changed the character designs in the SO2 remake...bastards turned Rena into a loli. I don't know what Tri-Ace is doing anymore...

Anyway, tri-Ace is pretty shitty at doing 3D, not to mention the anime look doesn't really work to well in 3D in the first place, so I don't think it should be too surprising unless you're new to tri-Ace games. On the other hand, this game certainly looks like a massive step up from the last game in the series. It's got that going for it, if nothing else.

Clearly, the Star Ocean team at Tri-Ace has completely stopped trying when it comes to character designs.

Nothing will undo the damage SO3 did to the series, and to Tri-Ace's reputation, for that matter. Nothing. Not even a fully HD, next-gen Valkyrie Profile 3.
That being said, yeah, I know about their explanation for the girl's age, which in some ways only makes it CREEPIER. It's like when the Disgaea producers hand-wave their sexualization of Etna because she's "1500 years old" even though she looks like she's 8. I don't like it one bit.
