i don't have a iphone so this is just my opinion base on ignorance but have play some of the games so here are my 2 cents(well the disclaimer is out of the way).are there any good game on i mean they say they want to get in the mobile game market(nds/psp)but so far most of the game i seen and play are god awful.my question is as i'm sure there are a handful of you the got one how many GOOD game there for it?
Now how about they make it so it can receive and send picture text messages (without having to send it to email, or having to know the "trick" to doing it)like every other phone on the planet? Then I'll buy in.
Hence my idea that Sony and Apple merge. Imagine the power of Apple applications and the power of iTunes/iPod being directly tied to the Playstation brand? Wow.
I do feel, however, that Sony is in trouble unless they get the next version of the PSP just right. Apple is now setting the bar for mobile gaming and while it probably won't bother the DS market Apple could, at the very least, make Sony look bad (then again, they've done that by themselves enough).
@Mark Langston: NO. I own and iPhone 3G and in no way is Apple setting thr bar for mobile gaming. Bar specialised gimmicky games the iPhone is basically trash for gaming in all its forms.
@NeoAkira: I did say bar specialised games by which i was referring partly to the use of the accelerometer. I know this is mobile gaming and thus talking about depth within games is probably a bit of a stretch of the imagination but i firmly believe that the iPhone isn't really capable of providing the same depth and immersion that the DS and PSP can present. I know we are seeing some releases of proper full games but i just don't think a touch screen is capable of providing the same intuitive, easy and consistently reliable control scheme that traditional handhelds can. I do realises Apple isn't exactly gunning for the handheld gaming market at full speed but i don't think the iPhone should really be discussed or referred to as a true mobile gaming device.
Ah sorry, I missed the "bar specialized games" in the original comment. But yah, I agree with you that playing games on the iPhone doesn't really endow the same experience as playing on a DS or PSP (aka primarily gaming systems).
@linkthe2nd: I could say the same exact thing about traditional controls.
Example: "Most of the games have the exact same mechanics. They're all just tilt control stick to turn while your vehicle goes at a constant speed, press button to shoot, etc. It's fun for all of 5 minutes."

Trash for gaming in all forms? Definitely an overexaggeration.
The accelerometer gives driving games a vast edge over traditional controls. Not only in terms of fun but also control, at least for me.
