In reply to World Store Launches New Super Mario Bros. Wii This Afternoon
Er... not sure if this has been pointed out, but it's not "Nintendo's World Store" or just "World Store"... it's Nintendo World. I thought the headline looked odd, and had no idea what it even meant at first. It makes no sense without the "Nintendo" in front of it. It's kind of like calling Mario Galaxy "Galaxy Game" or "Mario's Galaxy Game".

You *can* call it "Nintendo World store", but the "store" is not part of the name - the name of the place is really just Nintendo World. #newsupermariobroswii

We have the means to obtain assault rifles and pistols, but not shotguns. Let's kidnap a teen so that we might purchase that particular type of firearm from Wal-Mart!

Even before the PlayStation 3, this plan sounded rock solid. #crime

In reply to Jersey GameStops Break Street for Assassin's Creed II, L4D2
Do you think we'll ever find out which "rogue independent" broke the street date?

I'd like to have some proof that GameStop isn't just using a fabricated store as a justification for breaking street date, but I don't think we'll ever get that proof.

It also seems odd that corporate would authorize this on a Saturday.

But what do I know? #gamestop

In reply to Modern Warfare 2: Fight Against Knife Spam
I've got better, imo. My first match in Terminal, I was moving across the main hallway overlooking the runway, and see a guy popping out of an airplane on the right. I look at him running down the stairs, and then in passing, throw a knife ahead of him, out of view, thinking "man, wouldn't it be cool if I actually threw that spot-on." It kills the guy down below, who was running straight across the runway, right-to-left. I can only imagine how pissed he got from watching the killcam.

And, Terminal is currently my favorite level. #modernwarfare2

MSNBC and CNN throw bitch fits over games too. It's all bad, because you are always dealing with rich people, and folks who still see games as Mario bros stuff.

@Demonbird: Point taken. Really, any of the 24 hour networks need something to fill the air with, so they're all pretty interchangeable in that sense.

Also your comment reminds me of all the politicians who said things like. "I know what being a gamer is like I played Donkey Kong!" #modernwarfare2

In reply to The Importance of Asking 'Why'
When I initially read the quote on Kotaku about how comics are "in the pop cultural ghetto", I was grossly offended, and found the statement absurd. I was ready to dismiss his argument as garbage right there.
Sigh. But, no, I actually bothered to read his whole article, and it's rather absurd.
His complaint isn't that games aren't artistic- it's that the artistic games aren't "mainstream" enough. The aforementioned comic book complaint? He doesn't complain that comic books aren't artistic or diverse enough- he complains because most people see them as entertainment, not art. Instead of focusing on actual artistic integrity or diversity, his entire article obsesses on sales numbers.
He actually compares video games to Celine Dione, arguing that, because Celine Dione reaches a greater market, her work is superior.
He completely ignores the cultural concept of art. Art doesn't care if it is "approved" by the mainstream or not, it simply exists for and of itself.
And, for that reason, there are plenty of culturally and artistically successful games and comics.
I mean, Van Gogh only sold one Mona Lisa in his lifetime, and only a few people even cared. #development
