My game purchases this week will be woefully small as not only am I staying with a friend in NYC who is a non-gamer and therefore has no consoles, but I am leaving on Wed. for LA to go to E for All. Personally I had assumed they had just scrapped the PSP version of Spider-Man 3 considering the critical beating its console cousins took at the hands of nearly every reviewer imaginable, but apparently Activision has some sort of 'no platform left behind' philosophy, as they've just announced it's imminent arrival on retail store shelves, where it will most likely spend the remainder of its days save for a few unsuspecting parents hunting for Christmas gifts and people confusing it for Spider-Man: Friend or Foe. The PSP version does feature an exclusive Conquest Mode that adds a time element to missions, but conversely subtracts an analog stick, adding a frustrating element to the missions. It has been a few months now though, so maybe they took some time to polish it up? Could this be the ultimate version of Spider-Man 3? Nope. More »

Gamasutra is reporting that Vicarious Visions' California location has been shuttered by publisher Activision, laying off many, possibly all, of its employees. The team was responsible for the Wii, DS, Game Boy Advance and PlayStation 2 versions of Spider-Man 3, most recently. Reaction to those titles was mixed, with some critics calling it "lackluster" while others felt it was "crummy." More »

Unlike many trailers we see, this one is made up entirely of actual gameplay footage. I must say that the graphics look pretty impressive and I can't wait to start slinging webs all over NYC.
