"Because the game is a PC release, Activision will see higher profits on it than it does on console titles." -CNBC on Starcraft

You wanna set 'em straight, Kotaku?

@Biokinetica: I think they mean higher profit per unit due to a lack of licensing fees.

@Biokinetica: Set them straight on what?
70% of Activisions income is from PC.
PC has no licensing/royalty cost. A fair chunk are going with downloading it right from Blizzard, reducing shipping cost.
And they're selling it at $60, the same as a console game

They will see higher profits from it. It's also the sequel to one of the best selling PC games. So what profits they sill will be in spades.

Just keep in mind we've seen Activision have a got at Sony for making the PS3 cost too much, Microsoft for charging for Gold. But you ever seen Activision slate PC?

@Biokinetica: Er, yeah. They don't have to pay any publishing fees to Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo to release a PC game. I think that's what this quote represents.

@Kappuru: Yes, we know about the fees, that's obvious. What's not so obvious is the bigger point concerning publishers as a whole are flocking towards console games as their chosen medium because they're the ones that will sell in the first place. Don't pretend torrenting just disappeared, i'm not in the mood for that right now.

Paying attention to MW2 much? They've been breeding all kinds of hell for themselves with that game.
