Okay, guys. I hate fighting games for the most part, except for the Soul Calibur series, Super Smash Bros and the million Dragon Ball Z games.
I fucking love Tatsunoko vs Capcom. I walked into Gamestop with my brother yesterday with the simple goal of replacing his brand new MGS Peacewalker PSP with another new one, which had ALREADY gotten a dead pixel. I waited for him to replace it.
Nothing interesting in the PS3 section.
Nothing good in the 360 section.
I walk over to the Wii section and remember I wanted Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, so I begin looking for it, sadly to no avail. This is when I see Tatsunoko vs Capcom. I remember hearing about it before, so I look at the box. Ryu looks pretty cool, and I see Viewtiful Joe in the background. I look at the cover. All these guys look like Speed Racer, I thought. Where have I seen them before?
Oh well. I take it up to the counter and the lady (plus size, but.. so attractive in an unconventional kind of way) asks if I want it used to $10 less. Sure, why not? She shows me the disc, and it's pristine. No scratches or anything. +1 for me.
Flash forward to home. my brother's playing Peace Walker, and I pop in the game. Pretty fuckin' tits already. I hit up Arcade/Story mode. Viewtiful Joe and Megaman Volnutt, please. Holy shit. This is totally pick up and play. I'm already unleashing super combos by pure accident. Henshin a go go, baby.
Bad story short? I hate fighting games for the most part. Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is one of the best games I've played all year. Not a lot of games let me kick Gatchaman ass as Frank West.
And I wouldn't mind attempting to kick fellow Kotaku ass either.. drop your friend code if you want a cheap win.
@faxedge: :) Very nice/fair analysis of a game in a genre you usually hate! I like it when a game can change one's opinion about something they try to avoid. BioShock got me into horror games, Burnout got me into racing games, and Ragnarok got me into MMORPGs (even though I detest all three genres).
@faxedge: That's really good to hear, as I don't really like fighting games either, except the ones you mentioned. Plus it has Karas, and Soki from Onimusha 4, who I love ^_^
@faxedge: speaking as a plus size person (not a chick but a gay dude so ya know close enough) if you liked that girl or even just the way she looked you should have said something it would have really made her day and maybe got you somewhere :p
