In Mass Effect: Andromeda, I met new aliens, terraformed entire planets, and had a blast shooting down enemy Kett. None of that matched the sheer delight of Andromeda’s quieter moments, however, when I could sit down to read the email that my crew had sent between missions.

It kinda makes sense. In real life, so much of our communication ends up being written (texting, Tweeting, commenting, Slacking, email), that it changes the way we understand each other. Every moment and experience becomes a springboard for reflection, and we hash what they means to us by writing to each other. The same thing happens in Andromeda. Some of the most human, endearing moments happened in my inbox, or in the Tempest’s message boards. It wasn’t all heartfelt stuff, of course. There was lots of bickering as well! But that only added to everyone’s characterization.

There are too many stand-out posts to count, and as they are some of the best parts of the game, I won’t spoil everything in here—especially the awkward romantic emails. Those are for me, thanks!! In no particular order, here are some of my favorite exchanges in Mass Effect: Andromeda.
