It's not the stunning CGI movie quality trailer for NCsoft and Carbine's WildStar that has my heart beating so hard. Nor is it these forty-four screenshots, covering the races, combat, and environments of this gorgeous space born adventure. It's not even the bunny girls (though they certainly help). Halcyon - who now own the rights to the whole Terminator franchise - have secured the option to develop a number of films and games based on the works of Philip K Dick. At this stage, two games are planned. There's no word on just which of Dick's 44 novels and 120 short stories yet to be adapted (obviously people already own the rights to Total Recall, Minority Report, etc) will be picked up, so fans can go right ahead and start pencilling in their own personal top-fives while we wait for a fleshier announcement. More »

Codemasters has finally pulled aside the velvet curtain that hid their mysterious new MMO from view, revealing NetDevil's Jumpgate Evolution, which obviously must be standing in front of Codemasters' awesome, all-new game, seeing as we've known about the new Jumpgate since June of last year, with NetDevil hinting at the new title as far back as December 2006. *peeks behind Jumpgate* Nope, that's it folks. I'd say that's an awfully crafty way to hide your brand new MMO, leaving it out in plain sight like that. Either way, Codemasters will be distributing the game throughout North America and Europe, with Codemasters Online handling the game's operation. Hit the jump for a press release that should have been titled "NetDevil Finds Publisher / European Partner For Jumpgate Evolution." More »

In case you weren't listening on Friday or - like me - don't have cable, here is the teaser trailer for Cheyenne Mountain's Stargate Worlds MMO. Not too much to report, other than the fact that there is indeed a Stargate featured in the trailer, which means that they got at least that one detail right. What is interesting is the selection of people passing through the Stargate itself. Playable alien characters perhaps? Call me crazy, but ever since I was a little boy I've always wanted to be a relatively nondescript little grey dude. Is it finally my time? More »

You like games, so you surely like Sci-Fi right? I know I do, though my tastes tend to lean more toward the heady works of Le Guin and Miller then the likes of today's pulp sci-fi writers. (Little known fact I flunked Science Fiction in college, no lie.) That isn't to say I don't love the works of Heinlein and Howard too. But no matter which way your Philip K Dick dangles, Gawker's newest Sci-Fi-centric blog io9 has you covered. What's an io9 you ask? A rapture fucker. See proof you need to love this site. Not only is it packed with Sci-Fi goodness, it also tackles a bit of Sci-Non-Fi and throws in comic books, TV, movies, and I bet some video games, to boot. More »

British Conservative leader David Cameron wants to fight crime in Britain, and of course on of the key ways to combat the criminal element is baning violent video games. Yes, violent video games are one of the many societal dangers that Cameron feels need to be done away with as part of a long-term plan to fight crime by changing behavior of schoolchildren both at home and in the classroom.
"We are never going to deal with crime unless we look at the broader context and say, 'Yes, tough laws, strong action on the police, but also action to strengthen our society'.

After years of development including at least one complete redesign, industry legend and astronaut Richard Garriott's space epic MMO Tabula Rasa has finally entered the closed beta testing stage, paving the way for a fall launch if all goes well. In a market fairly starved for quality sci-fi MMO titles (that aren't primarily ship based), this is very good news indeed. More »
