But there was one piece of good news tucked in amongst the studio closures and money losses: Saints Row 2. It was announced that the game has shipped over two million copies worldwide since launch. We know, that's shipped, not sold through to customers, but even if half the copies in the world are languishing unsold, that's still a million sales. You also can't avoid 'em at the moment. They are the fixed-gear bikes of horror. Not content with infesting hundreds of video games of their own, the Zombie horde has slowly shuffled onto the back lot of the Gang-related sequel Saints Row 2 for a fully-3D mini game. Pop into one of the game's many arcades and you should find a Zombie coin-op that uses the main game's 3D engine to pit you (actually, your avatar's avatar, I suppose) against an army of undead brain-chompers, like a Left 4 Dead-lite. What doesn't Saint's Row 2 have (that Grand Theft Auto has already done)? A porn starlet on the development team. No, not 'on' the development team. CVG reports that Veteran adult entertainment engineer Tera Patrick has apparently joined the team at Volition as a "special producer". What exactly she will be producing remains up in the air at this time, but I am assuming it has something to do with procedurally generating sales to the sort of people who know her work intimately. Having seen Ms. Patrick performing her work accidentally via the internet in the long-distant past a week ago, I can't imagine what else she might be bringing to the table, other than wobbly table legs. It's extremely ballsy of THQ to release this tongue-in-cheek video for Saint's Row 2 on the eve of the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, but damn if it isn't entertaining. Then again, it came out during a GTA drought, so it had the market all to itself. This year, though...well, Saints Row 2 is going to have a tough time of it going up against the shiny new GTAIV.
