We've already told you about Rocksmith, Ubisoft's foray into the rhythm-and-music game genre. The title brings something new to the table. Unlike Rock Band or Guitar Hero, players of Rocksmith will be challenged to use a real guitar. No, seriously. The French developer promises that the title will come packaged with "a unique quarter-inch USB cable that is the first of its kind, allowing users to plug any real guitar with a quarter-inch jack directly into their favorite console." More »

Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Really Useful Group is apparently working on video games based on the famed composer's magical works of musical theater. More »

It seems recently that a day doesn't go by without some rhythm game announcing new artists, new albums, or new features for the forthcoming versions of their franchise, and XS Game's PopStar Guitar wants in on some of that hot announcement action. In a press release that claims to be announcing four new blockbuster tracks, five new tracks are listed, which I assume means one of them isn't blockbuster enough. Is it Rihanna's "Shut Up and Drive", "SOS" by the Jonas Brothers, "See You Again" by Hannah Montana, or "Wake Up Call" and "Makes Me Wonder" from Maroon 5? More »

Patapon releases next week and having had the privilege of checking it out over the last couple of days, I can tell you it's a really great game. The art style alone is enough to send an artsy guy like me into the stratosphere. If you haven't yet checked out any of the media surrounding this games, be sure to check out this trailer to see what you've been missing. Loco-Roco fans will take to this like a second coming. Great stuff. More »

While I can pick up a guitar or sit down at a piano and work my way through rudimentary renditions of just about anything, I've never managed to learn how to read music. It's one of those things I really regret not getting around to. There may be hope for me on the horizon however, for Agetec is releasing the educational music game Rhythm 'N Notes on the DS this fall. More »
