Rengoku Reborn On Cell Phones

Rengoku_-_Screen_02.jpgWhere do failing, mediocre game properties go to die? Apparently the answer is cell phones, as Hudson Entertainment announces critically panned franchise Rengoku imminent leap from PSP to mobiles phones. Now a whole new audience will get a chance to experience the hot and cold, "This looks so cool...what is this crap?" reactions the game instilled on countless PlayStation Portable gamers.

"We are extremely pleased to bring this franchise to mobile phones," said John Greiner, President and CEO of Hudson Entertainment. "Rengoku is a perfect fit for the mobile platform, since it features a healthy dose of action and adventure that cell phone gamers are sure to relish."

This is one of those news items I just can't wrap my brain around. That they even made the one PSP sequel to the game left me scratching my head. I mean, who knows really? It could wind up being a really good mobile title. Perhaps it was just on the wrong platform to begin with. I'd love to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I've already spent $40 on being disappointed by this series, and that's quite enough for me.

Hudson Entertainment Brings The Sinister Action Of Rengoku To Mobile Phones

Intense Action From Hit Console Game Brought to Mobile Phones

REDWOOD SHORES, CA - June 5, 2007 - Hudson Entertainment, the North American publishing arm of game developer Hudson Soft, announced today the upcoming release of Rengoku for mobile phones. Based on the hit PSP® title of the same name, Rengoku promises to deliver frenetic action in a dark and futuristic world.

Rengoku pits mobile gamers against hordes of enemies as GRAM, a cyborg searching for the truth behind his existence. Throughout the adventure, players have the opportunity to fully upgrade GRAM's components and abilities to better equip him against the onslaught of enemies he will encounter.

The game takes players on a journey through seven distinct levels presented from an isometric viewpoint, where they will face ruthless enemies, each with unique AI and attack patterns. To cope with the relentless challenges posed by each level, players will have the chance to upgrade multiple components, including GRAM's head, arms, torso, legs, and weapons. Power-ups and hidden secrets can be found throughout each level, creating an unparalleled level of character customization.

"We are extremely pleased to bring this franchise to mobile phones," said John Greiner, President and CEO of Hudson Entertainment. "Rengoku is a perfect fit for the mobile platform, since it features a healthy dose of action and adventure that cell phone gamers are sure to relish."
