The song is titled “Tapha Niang” off the album Boulevard de l'independance. It’s actually a pretty catchy song, and I'm quite disappointed it won't be in the final game. If you managed to get a retail copy before the recall, it might not matter since it's believed Media Molecule will release a patch to remove the song from every copy anyway. ]]> http://kotaku.com/index.php?op=postcommentfeed&postId=5065845&view=rss&microfeed=true <![CDATA[And The New LittleBigPlanet North American Release Date Is...]]> In case you've just joined us this morning, Sony and Media Molecule have run into a bit of a snag with LittleBigPlanet on a worldwide scale, with copies already out at retail being recalled due to some passages from the Islamic holy text Qur'an making their way into one of the game's background tracks. Now Sony has revealed the updated release date for the North American version of the game. Originally slated for an October 21st release, the new, improved version will begin shipping on October 27th.
We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible.

]]> http://kotaku.com/index.php?op=postcommentfeed&postId=5065179&view=rss&microfeed=true <![CDATA[NSider's Letter To Sony And Media Molecule Re: Qur'an References]]> Yesterday we received an email in tips from Nsider on behalf of True-Gaming.net that was sent to Media Molecule and Sony regarding the Qu'ran passages in LittleBigPlanet's music that resulted in the worldwide recall of the title just a week before release. the email explains the passages and goes on to request that they be removed from the title.
I asked many of my friends online and offline and they heard the exact same thing that I heard easily when I played that part of the track. Certain Arabic hardcore gaming forums are already discussing this, so we decided to take action by emailing you before this spreads to mainstream attention. We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online update, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it.

"During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur'an," admitted the company in a statement. "We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused."
