There are major differences between a press conference at Games Convention and one at say, E3. I learned this earlier this morning when I attended my first Leipzig press conference for Konami. At E3, you line up for a press conference. At GC, you mob the doors. At E3, they stop letting people in once the big guy way in the back is pressed against the wall so hard he's breathing air from the other side. At GC they seriously consider stacking people. It was because of these differences that I found myself at the back of a very crowded room, raising my camera over my head and using copious amouts of zoom to capture the goings on at the Konami press conference. The 2008 Games Convention in Leipzig Germany is almost upon us, with McWhertor and I already gathering supplies for our long trek across the ocean. This marks my first journey outside of the continental United States, and while I am a bit nervous, judging by the press conference schedule at the convention I'll have no time to accidentally cause any international incidents. There'll be press conferences from Electronic Arts, Disney, Midway, Konami, Ubisoft, Deep Silver, Activision, Atari, JoWood, dtp Entertainment, and Sony Computer Entertainment Germany...and that's just day 1. I just received my invitiation to Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference. This year the big N is going to shoot for actually having enough seats for everyone. One of the ways they are doing this is by assigning people to sections. The sections are color-coded and have cool Nintendo-esque names.
