Final Fantasy Wins Canada’s Polaris Music Prize

A pallid, asexual-looking Canadian man named after a popular video game series predominantly featuring scantly clad teenage girls and sword-wielding hydrocephalics has won the Canadian Independent Music Award, the Polaris Music Prize, for his album He Poos Clouds. Welcome to the twenty-first century, my friends.

Owen Pallett, a violinist and singer from Toronto, scooped up the award for his one man project, Final Fantasy. His music is done by playing a violin into a pedal controlled sampler, which he then loops over additional parts.

His inspiration? Gayness. "As far as whether the music I make is gay or queer, yeah, it comes from the fact that I'm gay, but that doesn't mean I'm making music about it," he said in an interview with Now Toronto. It does, however, raise the question: he's pooing Cloud's what?

This may also explain his predilection for cosplaying one of the most absurdly androgynous game protagonists ever to come out of Square-Enix's closet, come to think of it.

We love Owen Pallett and want to snag his work before Square-Enix sues him into a thick, gooey paste. Does anyone know where we can buy his albums? Note the word buy... we already know where to torrent them.
