@Ratfoot_Revived:

the PS3 is hands-down best-in-class for both DVD and Blu-ray quality. the bonus of being able to play games on it should be enough; the 360's exclusives are nearly as slim as the PS3 (if you are willing to wait for PC ports) and it has a rubbish-quality DVD/HD video player (compared to stand-alones). it makes up for this with the fantastic XBLA and pay-for-play multiplayer architecture.

the console "war" is a joke (as the Wii won it a long time ago); let go of your hate and enjoy the unique experience each machine has to offer. less hate means a happier life and more gaming.

@omg-ponies:

you've got to be kidding right? if that was the case people wouldn't have been getting shot at during the PS3 launch and 360's would have been on the shelf until halo 3. the wii was MORE successful because of the bundling of wii sports, but it still would have been hot shit even without such a great game.

the FF XIII and MGS4 trailers sold me on PS3; here we are ALMOST a year after PS3 launch and i STILL don't own any PS3 games, aside from everyday shooter and flow, but I froze my ass off for 12 hours to get my ps3 pre-order at ebstop.

the primary reason i got my wii was a bullshit press conference event where they discussed wiiware and unlicensed 3rd-party development potential -- that pumped me up and its still a pipe dream.

I pre-order virtually everything I buy through amazon - they are conservative to the point of sending you an email like that and then fedexing it next-day air a day later so you still get it within 2 days of release. happened with hellgate, and a bunch of other titles i order (usually) months in advance. such is the way of amazon. the convenience of good pricing, free 2-day shipping, etc. more than makes up for it IMHO. with a holiday season about ten times better than last xmas, i can stand the wait -- i'm already behind and mass effect, rockband, etc. still haven't hit.
i don't think its any worse or better than any other MMO I played at launch; I'm stunned at the lack of common guild features, such as a shared bank and that you need to subscribe to easily group with your friends via a guild. SA had a good review that sums the game up pretty well. IMHO is guild wars + diablo, but since it was only $45 from amazon i thought it was an OK deal.
i am lucky that i discussed my blog with my boss before i started my current job. he was totally cool with it and its a bit of a relief to know that i at least have one guy subscribed to my rss feed...a guy who not only pays my bills, but actually cares about me as a person. it's pretty cool :) too bad not all organizations are as flexible or forward thinking.

then again, when i have work-related stuff to bitch about, i don't think a blog is the appropriate forum...i try to keep it in the zone of "talking with some friends over a few beers in the pub", not "permanently publicly published with clear authorship."
