I do plan on picking this up someday, it sounds very reminiscent of Pax Imperia. Ah, my wasted youth...

<![CDATA[tk. commented on Saints Row 2 Shakes Its GTA Roots]]> Hooray! This is good news, I've been looking forward to this.

I don't mind if games take from other good games. How many Pac-Man clones have there been? And some of them-- like Ladybug-- were pretty damn fun. Remember, good artists copy, but great ones steal.

Now if they could cram in some Force powers from TFU, some flick-it controls from skate., and some Bushido-Blade style sword duels, it could become the greatest open world game evar.

<![CDATA[tk. commented on PSP-3000 To Support Dualshock 3, 480i Video?]]> All of this just reminds me, whatever happened to all the awesome supposed interactions between our handhelds and our consoles? One of the reasons I got a PSP back when they came out was because of the possibilities of cool interactions with PS2 games. (Fast forward and now I own neither, several years later, due to a lack of anything to do but play old NES ROMs on the PSP at the time.)

And then there's the DS, which everyone has, has Wi-Fi, as does the Wii, which everyone also has. Sounds like a lot of potential awesomeness. Where is the awesome?

]]>
<![CDATA[tk. commented on New Full Albums Announced For Rock Band 2]]> Tres awesome. Nothing's Shocking is a no brainer (although Ritual would be just as good, probably too many longer songs, though)-- drums on stuff like "Ted, Just Admit It" are going to be way fun-- and I'll definitely be picking up at least half of the tracks on Blood Sugar Sex Magic.

Plus some Texas Flood action? Wow.

<![CDATA[tk. commented on Director Of Babylon AD Calls Movie "Terrible Experience"]]> @Metropolis: And here I thought a movie's content depended more on the plot than on the lead actor(s)...

And a great director (Scorsese, for instance) can get quality acting performances out of just about anyone.

<![CDATA[tk. commented on GTA IV DLC Out In November, Will Be 15 Hours Worth Of Murder Simulation]]> @fireb0x: Agreed and agreed. I look back and really don't understand how this game received so many perfect scores when it is deeply, deeply flawed.

"Deeply, deeply flawed" because you don't happen to think that driving around at insane speeds, shooting at people, with a side of roleplaying-lite is fun? What game were you expecting?

"Deeply, deeply flawed" because it's repetitive? If all you do is grind the missions, it's going to be a bit repetitive, yes, but the difference is your approach to the game. In most other games, you don't have that choice. Here, you can say "fuck the next mission, I'm going to go crash a helicopter in to Central Park and harass the guy at the hot dog stand instead," but instead you're just taking a cab everywhere in the name of "beating the game".

The problem is that you're playing a different game than the people who are taking the time to marvel at the architecture, who tried everything resembling a motorcycle jump that they could find, went behind every door that looked like it might open, or just wandered around listening to the chatter of people in Times Square, throwing the occasional coffee cups at people's heads.

<![CDATA[tk. commented on Should Talent Get Their Names On Boxes?]]> I think that, in most cases, just knowing the development studio is enough (Blizzard, Harmonix, Treyarch, Rockstar North, etc.) to have a good feel for whether or not it's going to be a quality product. Would I want to know if a game was penned by Neil Gaiman? Hell yeah, but it doesn't have to be a "Neil Gaiman's" type affair.

They manage to let us know all of the "big" names involved in any given movie without having to call it "Bay and Lebouf Present: 'Transformers: The Movie'". Perhaps, like movies, they could call these things out in game trailers, or in the opening cutscenes of the game (GTAiv did this nicely).

Whatever they do, as long as they don't take the "DJ Clue Remix" approach and just shout their names all over the shit, it's always good to see people getting credit for their hard work.

Apparently he drew an issue of Stormwatch during Ellis' run on the title, to bring that back around.
