Although in places that water is very scarce this would come in handy, on board of ISS maybe?

Well done NASA for finding magnetic monopoles.

<![CDATA[tanvach commented on The Ultimate Cheap Camera Battlemodo]]> I can vouch for Fuji F20, since that little camera eats low light like a full grown bear feasting on little baby photos. Iso performance that can easily wow your friends is a no brainer.

<![CDATA[tanvach commented on Earth Hour Wants All The Lights Off, But We Want Them On]]> Some facts:

1) If you lessen the demand on the electricity grid, the torque on the generator (which has to spin at exactly 60Hz if you're in the US) is decreased, thus you need less fuel to supply the power output.

2) Global warming is currently universally accepted as a real phenomenon in scientific community. There will always be some people who believe it's not real, usually out of personal believe, but the evidence is conclusive. If you disagree, have a read ([en.wikipedia.org]).

3) Kyoto protocol is only there to kick start the CO2 reduction initiatives. The reason for the carbon credits is due to some industrialised countries will never sign an agreement which is more restrictive (thus a better chance of a beneficial decrease in CO2).

4) Failed cropping will be the main mode that will effect the civilisation. Expect an increase in war and terrorism as countries with increasingly difficult climate fight for more natural resources.

5) The increasing population will make everything worse.

<![CDATA[tanvach commented on Homemade 400mm Binoscope Gives Your Binoculars Lens Envy]]> @acduke: I guess you have never used a long focal length binocular then. The whole point is you can actually see 3D images. Also, come on, he even ground the mirrors himself!

]]>
<![CDATA[tanvach commented on Homemade 400mm Binoscope Gives Your Binoculars Lens Envy]]> A little misleading quoting the 400mm figure. If you read the article, 400mm refers to the diameter of the mirrors. The actual focal length is 1900mm. That's 1900mm lens f4.75, pretty badass!
