I'm finding this is my favorite among the launch games. And I'm glad someone mentioned the music at the end of the games if you do well, it's a very nice touch. Also, I've noticed that playing Kinect Sports is just as much a workout as playing Your Shape.
I discovered this late, but enjoyed the game and am sad to see it go. Whether or not it was live or there was prizes was inconsequential to me. The non live games were just as fun. And I enjoyed playing trivia against others. Didn't realize the game would also have achivements available. Pretty cool all around.
Something is not right.
But I'm sure they would have rather released prior to December than March in the US. What else is coming out around March that makes them pause? #granturismo5
I picked up a slim on the day it was released, played a couple of games, and haven't really touched the PS3 since. Not sure if I have buyers remorse or have simply lost interest, but there's nothing that has captured my attention just yet. I'll probably check out Uncharted 2, but the rest of the my purchases this year are all 360 based.
As far a business, I think this is a win-win for both companies. Marvel will gain Disney's marketing muscle. Disney will gain well known properties.
Disney has acquired properties before... the muppets come to mind, and the world didn't end.
Does this mean we'll see X-Men at Disneyland? I'm not so sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel-themed rides made an appearance at some point.
What seems more cloudy is that Marvel properties are being produced by many other companies. For movies alone you have Sony and Fox, which are competitors. At some point Disney is going to want to wrangle everything under their brand.
But anyway, Disney is pretty smart when it comes to selling and they're NOT going to kill the cash cow.
I've always enjoyed FASA Interactive games and was saddened the day I heard it was closing down. Why they didn't extend the MechWarrior or Crimson Skies series to the 360 I'll never understand. It seemed like it would have been a no-brainer.
But it does seem like something went wrong. And I can sense that Weisman was not happy about the experience. I have to wonder where FASA would have been had Microsoft not acquired them. Most smaller companies do not survive the long haul or are acquired. Look at what happened to Origin and Sierra after they were acquired. The companies were run into the ground and existing properties languished.
There's no doubt in my mind that Microsoft made changes to the hardware to address the issue that was causing the RROD. If newer hardware is failing at the same rate as the original hardware, I'd be surprised.
All in all, this is pretty good timing on Sony's part. New, cheaper PS3 on the way. The most popular games are coming out in cheaper or extended editions.
I'd say it's a good time to be a new PS3 customer.
@Mega-Driven: I mentioned this elsewhere, but I agree with you. If these consoles matched my other equipment and fit in the same proportions, I would be estatic.
@Islandkiwi: I'm with you on this one. One of my complaints regarding the PS3 is the curved top. You should be able to stack equipment. If it runs hot, then you should accomodate for that in the design when stacked.
BUT, that being said, I would like if bloggers would disclose if they're receiving some sort of compsensation from the company of the product they're reviewing. Now I'm not talking about a free game to review... I'm talking about if they receive more than that.
I'm also not crazy about blogs that are fronts for companies. The ones that pretend to be a blog but solely exist to push their product. Now I'm not talking about sites that are setup for press releases or that state they're sponsered by a company. I'm talking about the ones that hide that fact and are created by marketing companies.
But in the end you still have to use your own judgement. I tend to read several blogs and make any decisions based on multiple sources.
