nobody ever said there weren't more for the wii than the 360 or ps3... we said there aren't more for the wii than there were for the ps2 - the previous generation's most selling console. this whole thing started with people saying "nintendo has fallen.." well, if you look at history, having a lot of garbage software generally means you've won that console generation...

lol who cares what my picture is.. i know exactly what it is.. that has nothing to do with this conversation...

once again.. the wii can handle more than hello kitty (which had games right along with barbie and tinkerbell on the ps2... games that didn't appear on the xbox or gamecube), but third parties don't want to try anything fresh. they sat there and made crap licensed games, niche games, or just bad games in general.. and then whined that they couldn't compete with nintendo.

i have no clue what an "in no sense" game is, but i guarantee you they're not limited to the wii. that rpg nonsense you're rambling about (and i don't even like jrpgs) i'll pretty much ignore since someone could say they won't begrudge the dude bros and their silly roid rage huge guy shooting guns and cussin a lot that is all over the 360... there are stereotypes in everything.

"You cannot deny that there are a lot more games intended to appeal to 4-year olds on the Wii than on the Xbox."

yeah, 2 reasons for that... the wii is cheaper to develop for and most importantly.. it's the best seller of this gen. go look at the ps2's library.. just as much junk was made for the ps2 as there was for the wii.... if the wii had graphics, an online structure comparable to its contemporaries (and maybe if the classic controller was included with each console - as it should have been) we would have seen all of the big third party hits of this gen like modern warfare, assassins creed, gta 4, mass effect.. etc on the wii as well. the simple fact that devs would have had to make a completely different version due to graphics and controls is what kept nintendo behind in that area. i think with the wii u, we'll see a lot of cross platform stuff until the next gen xbox and ps come out... then nintendo will probably get the same treatment due to having the underpowered console again.

i dont know what crazy japanese bs youre referring to.. because the ps3 and 360 has their fair share of that stuff as well... the seal of approval actually meant nothing more than "this game will work on your nintendo console." like ive said elsewhere in this thread, go look at a list of the games that came out for nes and snes... a few years back i was playing through all of the games ever released on the snes... i ended up feeling like 50% of the games were licensed platformers.. its crazy.

i didn't see mention of this on kotaku, so here.

sonic 4 episode 2...

sure people's tastes change as they get older, for example i have gotten into cartoons more now (i'm 29) than when i was 19.. at the same time, i like sports quite a bit more now than i did when i was a teenager.. my tv is either on nicktoons or the nfl network..

i dont know what kinds of games you play, but i could say i have outgrown gritty shooters about marines or ultraviolent sandbox games that put you in the role of a gangster... but the thing is, me saying i've outgrown those things leaves implications that anybody who still enjoys them is childish. its somewhat condescending.. especially when you add a comment that labels the alternative for "big boys."

thing is, nintendo doesn't specifically target a younger audience, their goal is to appeal to everyone. im pretty sure that if only kids were playing mario games... they wouldn't sell tens of millions.. they have mass appeal.

i understand though thats not for everyone, its just that your comment sounded like you think the people that play nintendo games are little kids... i'm not some nintendo fanatic, but i am a grown as man that enjoys mario games.

stupid commenting system posting my comment twice.
you do realize that there are spongebob games on the xbox 360 as well right? the thing is though, when someone says stuff like "yeah im going to go play on my big boy console," they are implying that anyone doing the opposite is a "baby."

if madexponent had simply said "im just not into what nintendo makes anymore, many of the games on 360 and ps3 just suit my current tastes better.." i probably would never have replied.

i played the binary domain demo because i've been really interested in that.. i also worked until 10:45 pm... the wife and i celebrated sunday instead.
man.. have you played any nes lately? go back and play 90% of those games and see that there is a ton of shovelware in the library. same goes for the snes too...

third parties pretty much had to make games for the nes if they wanted to succeed... theyre the only ones that have fallen though.

nintendo isnt doing anything less important now than they did in the nes era.. whether or not you think nintendo's current games are good is subjective, but the fact that donkey kong - a 30 something year old franchise - can still sell 5 million copies shows that nobody has fallen.

i hate when people say "outgrown" as if they're so adult because they like m rated games with violence and bad language..
i was totally going to put this up here but i was stuck at work and cant view kotaku at work (but they can block my phone). i had just seen this on fb right before kotaku posted this lol...
its pretty much a refinement of that controller.. its a perfect version of the vision that they had with the genesis controller.
yeah, im not too sure it would. sega made some mistakes when handling their games in the saturn era.. why we didn't see most of the ports of capcom and snk's arcades, more copies of panzer dragoon saga, the 2nd and 3rd scenarios of shining force III, or sakura wars over here.. ill never understand.
yeah, i sold the first saturn i got to a friend because i bought a brand new one from walmart near the end of its life cycle. in the genesis era, i was kind of anti nintendo, but when the playstation came along.. i started to embrace nintendo and became anti sony (dont hate, i was 12 - 13)..

so while kids were going off about their resident evil 2's, metal gear solids, and final fantasy VIIs... i didnt care.. i had nights, virtua fighter, virtua cop, daytona usa, goldeneye, mario 64, starfox, ocarina of time, guardian heroes, shining force III, the wcw wrestling games on 64, panzer dragoon, mischief makers, legend of oasis, superior ports of capcoms arcade fighting games, die hard arcade, fighter's megamix, perfect dark, f-zero x, bomberman 64, clockwork knight, wave race.. etc etc...

i eventually got a playstation, and even though i ended up amassing a nice collection for the console, i still don't think that highly of it.

lol yep. i used to be all over my saturn as a kid.. i was the kind of kid that would take the screws out and look inside and all that stuff... so i didnt have that problem.. but i remember going to a friends place and he was saying his saturn would never save, so i opened the back and the ribbon was still there... problem solved.
yeah.. i have about 40 saturn games and some of them are still some of my favorite games of all time. guardian heroes, shining force III, legend of oasis, nights, three dirty dwarves, die hard arcade... good times.

also, are you sure it was defective? was there a ribbon underneath the battery or did you ever try to replace the battery?

can't wait to play this, but the whole time i was watching i couldn't stop thinking about 2 things.

1. man the sf IV art style is ugly... the actual graphics are gorgeous, but the style has always been ugly to me and im kind of sad to see it used again.

2. that music... i remember one of the articles on here about game music that made mention of how sf IV's themes were adequate songs, but not as good as the classics. it just made me want to hear dan's alpha 2 theme.

as for the gems though, it looks interesting. as jedijumphigh said, i see a lot of people outlawing them in competitive play though..

Hands down the best controller ever as far as fighting games are concerned. having 6 face buttons was always better than 4 when playing a 6 button fighter.. you've still got the shoulder button for punch x 3, kick x 3, or variations of the two . best of all though was the d pad.. by far the best d pad on any controller out there. i always hated nintendo's d pad due to it just being a plus sign with nothing connecting the directional inputs and the playstation's d pad was always garbage to me due to being sunken in.. it just doesn't feel good to my thumb.

as for current gen stuff... i use the madcatz fight pads that came out with sf IV for everything. i have one hooked up to my pc that i use for mame, and a couple more for 360 and ps3. i also bought 2 of the te fight sticks back then, but hardly ever used them. i respect sticks, i think arcade sticks for fighting games are like mouse/keyboard for shooters.. but i still enjoy a controller for everything.

i just recently acquired a third saturn and decided to keep this one (its a first model us saturn) at my place while my 2nd model jp and 2nd model us consoles stay at my folks house.. i brought over all of my games (save for the japanese ones of course) and have been having a blast playing through some of my old favorites.

has anyone ever played legend of oasis? man its a great game and its been so long since ive played that im hooked. im ignoring my 3ds, 360, wii, and ps3 right now because im focused on completing this game.

also, who else grew up with a saturn? i know theres at least 1 or 2 of you out there lol..

what do you do for a living?
