I just bought a couple of third party play & charge kits off eBay, because my official ones keep breaking. Hopefully these don't cause irreparable harm to my 360.
I'm frustrated when people say "I'm not one to brag" and then brag.
/Yes, being humble is one of my many great traits...
Sticking to the topic, I don't have too many issues with cheap tactics. The only games I currently play online are Catan and Halo: Reach. I've played a lot of douches, but never due to anything I'd refer to as a cheap tactic.
@freedomweasel: Oh, I'm not countering your argument. I agree; if I'm at the store I'm going to load up on everything that sounds good. Soup is at the top of that list, right next to cinnamon rolls.
I was just saying why I think milk and bread are popular. Also, they're cheap.
@floppy mcwiggle: What's the earliest game that your son was able to actually figure out? I let my daughter play with the controller while Halo is running (either while invincible in firefight or in campaign when there's nothing around). She's figured out that the triggers make the most noise and commotion, and that the one stick changes what appears on the screen. She's a long way from being able to control both sticks at the same time. Before she gets there, I'd like to get her games that are more age-appropriate.
I'll have to see if there are any decent Wonderpets or Backyardigan games for toddlers.
@freedomweasel: Milk and bread is used normally in all meals. You can make sandwiches with a glass of milk for lunch & dinner, and then have french toast in the morning. Sure, you could eat some soup for breakfast, but it's just not the same.
@floppy mcwiggle: Man, I'm already there. She turns on the Wii, and then tries to take the TV remote so she can change it to the right channel. If that doesn't work, she grabs an xbox controller. I take out the battery pack, and she tries to push the guide button on my controller. She's not even two yet. :/
@Chrismsx: I was playing Halo:Reach Rumble Pit on a Saturday a few weeks ago. My wife, her friend, and my daughter were all in the room. This teenager (I'd guess between 13 and 15) gets killed, from the speakers comes "Oh, f***. F*** you guys!" Ten seconds later we hear a quieter voice: "Sorry, mom."
I think it was the funniest Halo moment I've ever had.
@Weezle41: I'm just like Weezle. My daughter wakes me up at 7:15 every day like clock-work. I give her some cereal, and then poor myself a bowl. She sits on my lap while I play Xbox; if she wants to play I give her a wiimote and she thinks she's in the game.
Has anyone tried any wired 3rd party controllers for the 360? Are any of them any good, or are 3rd party controllers still a big step down from 1st party models?
Right now I'm using 2 official Microsoft wireless controllers. I've had the worst luck with the play & charge kits (once again, Microsoft brand). I've gone through two of them; they just stop charging over time. When the second one broke around Thanksgiving, I made the switch to batteries. I've spent more than $10 on batteries in the last month. That's not sustainable (for either me or the environment).
I need a new solution. I don't mind being connected, so I'm leaning towards the Microsoft wired controller. However, If the 3rd parties have improved since the Dreamcast days I'd consider using one of them. Any info is appreciated.
