@Killer Toilet: L.A. Noire is being developed by an external studio and only being published by Rockstar, it doesn't even use RAGE so i doubt it will be too similar. The Rockstar logo will probably help shift lots of copies for those expecting a sandbox game to Rockstar Norths high standards, even if fails to live up to them.
@Foxstar is in love with Kotaku's two Brians.: What we really want is a virtual boy slot!
@TRT-X: I don't like how this article claims only 5% own a pspgo whilst the questions asked for my first owned console. If you consider that the majority of go purchasers would be early adopters which love to have the newest gadgets then these people would likely have bought at least one of the other psp consoles before hand. However I think that this question and a few others have been made to please and illicit a response in the kotaku readership such as the RROD and wii questions.
@Scotland: kotaku is going to post this every day until perfection, at which point Andi MacDowell will fall in love with one of kotakus writers and all will be normal again.
@Smiley Massacre: You should definitely get gioteck's real triggers, completely remedies the awful slippy triggers of the dualshock 3.
Here in the UK preorders are free in GAME (gamestop equivalent), so shhhh no one tell them. The best thing about it is you can have a game reserved then go to other shops to check prices before picking it up. It's weird though because anytime I pre-order a limited edition the staff will order all versions (standard and collectors), however with this many games coming out this year the only tins I'll be getting will be for baked beans (and not more pointlessly metallic game boxes to add to my collection).
@shouryuuken: I was going to retaliate with a reply, but instead I apologise for my initial comment. Sorry.
@shouryuuken: You should also get the caps lock button fixed on your keyboard. I'm sorry but my mother has a computer (and excels at typing) and my grandmother's name begins with a capital letter, so I couldn't help but notice your lack of capitalisation.
@-Skyline-:Offering FREE Grunt Birthday Parties!: Sometimes those we respect must swallow their pride to appeal to a wider audience *cough* porn star writing for kotaku *cough*.
The super guide is a great idea which has the potential to save many newcomers of our 'secret society' from giving up. I can see it working well in story driven titles where mastering game mechanics is only part of a games appeal and enjoyment can be had by just witnessing it from begining to end. However I don't see it as something which will help recruit more gamers from the masses of non-gamers. Most of us on this site have probably been playing games from an early age, our ability to hold a controller built into us as instinct, we can easily try a new game with little intimidation. 'Non-gamers' however have none of our experience, or possibly haven't played a game since the simple joys of atari's single button stick or the nes' similarly simple pad, experience should be built up. Today there was a great '12 page gaming special' in the guardian which recommended peggle, flower and cannabalt amongst other titles as perfect introductions to gaming, games which can be instantly understood and enjoyed by anyone, a stepping stone to half-life, gta and ico (where something like the super guide could be appropriate if it means completion of our mediums masterpieces). I think we should openly accept the super guide as a means of growing and strengthening the gamer family, but at the same time we should educate our new siblings on 'good' games so that they can grow to become free from the mass medias usual negative image of gaming and be able to enjoy gaming like they may film and music. Once gaming has become broad enough we can go hide and create little societies in obscure niches to fulfill our need to be different, but we can't hoard all of this medium to ourselves forever (that would be greedy).
@TheRuiner: But this tattoo is future proof, the natal controller is at the bottom.
@Archaotic: The problem is the 'big' psp titles are cloning console games albeit with worse controls and graphics. Something great about nintendo's consoles is that great (nintendo) games (which are mostly geniusly designed) generally do very well and please both critics and mainstream gamers. Sony consoles on the other hand have more of a negative correlation regarding critical reception and mainstream success and you will find Dissidia and Loco roco are ignored for sports and generic action titles; which are clones of console games (sometimes they are ports!). And of course with these console experiences arrive the sluggish difficulty of 3-dimensions, whilst these games are playable it is far from what you would call pick up and play. The ds however is surviving off it's simple control schemes, where if it doesn't require you to poke and scratch your way through the experience it will will quite probably play like a 16-bit era game, easy to do on the sofa or on a train. Sure the psp has many pick up and play titles which work better than any ds title (my example would be patapon) but if it lacks appeal to the target market then it shall remain largely forgotten not only by the psp owners but also potential psp developers. #npd
@Brian St. Claire: I think that this article has been split from a much larger one. Eventually tim's epic (consisting of his many kotaku articles) will be revealed in full with its current purpose (games) replaced with a different intention entirely; and will quite possibly be called "Why I hate the loudspeakers outside my house".
@Strangelove: Nice impression of an ea sports employee, but it needs more NBA live praise, 7/10. #nba2k10
@Tevor_the_Third: IW are obviously just pitching to their homophobic American teen audience. #nsfw
@Str8_Jihadin: That seems plausible, however it says at the bottom of the article that nintendo paid for the game, can't be a regular commenter then. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
@WhiteMage says fix the comments grr: This mysterious stranger, playing with our minds. It could possibly be tim working under a pseudonym, as he never capitalises his name. But then again the post took me less than an hour to read, must be some new guy. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
@deanbmmv: But the pspgo isn't out in japan yet (I think). #thejapanesehardwarechart
