Even if we pretend that Madden is a great football simulator, reporting the result of ONE simulation is more than worthless.
Controls were a minor criticism but enemy creation was a real limitation of the the first game. Sounds like they are slaughtering that problem.
It's disheartening that the developers of the two MLB games don't know the basics of sabermetrics. See better pitches, huh? Even the most simple, accepted projection system (Marcels) is probbaly better than what these guys are doing. Come on guys!
Even if Madden is the greatest football simulator in the world, running a grand total of 1 simulation per game is just silly. It should be run thousands of times, so all the thousands of mini-coin flips that occur during the simulation all even out. Tell EA to google "monte carlo simulation".
@m3rcer: You are comparing having to swap a disk two or three times vs. putting a disk in EVERY time you want to watch a Netflix movie online.
Treating cells as pixels is nothing new. Here's a perfect Pacman in excel:

3D graphics is new to me, though. A wonderful way for a person to study the basic math behind their favorite games.

@DariusEnigma: I felt the same way. I have a baby about the same age and it tugged at the old Daddy heart strings to hear that.
95% of the people posting here (including myself) have no idea if 35% or 70% is a high or low royalty. Pure ignorance, but don't let that stop you all from having an opinion!
@darthmole12: Very informative post. Perhaps MS needs to educate developers on how to better utilize the hard drive.
From the article: "It sounds like yet another instance of a politician not fully understanding what he's talking about, and jumping on the bandwagon"

Isn't this just another example of Kotaku writer not fully understanding what he's talking about and jumping on the "world is against video games" bandwagon?

We all know a person or people who've become so consumed by a hobby that don't have time for anything else. It could be TV, video games or whatever. This was not a direct attack on video games.

I can't wait for the report of the 360 that failed because it wasn't plugged in.

I mean, seriously people. This is getting embarrassing.

I might be in the minority but I liked the "good" ending. I found it very touching.

The pacing of the plot iself kind of uneven, though. Killing Ryan and learning about your past was the climax of the story and it occurs about 2/3rds of the way through.

Kotaku is such an odd site. On one hand, you get the excellent "No Gods or Kings" from Crecente. On the other hand, you have to wade through dozens of childish fanboy-baiting posts to find it.
Why are people always trying to define what x amount of time of a certain kind of entertainment SHOULD be worth to a person? It's up to the individual! You don't think it's worth it to YOU, don't buy it.

And really, when we are talking about $5, that's popcorn at a theator, a beer at a bar or a first run movie rental. The bar isn't exactly set high for five bucks.

I play at conquerclub as well. Very slow paced and the dice obviously play a hufe role but it's still alot of fun.

As others have said, Risk would work fine on Xbox Live. You just have to set set a timer for turn lengths. For the Classic map, 1 minute is plenty of time for a turn. Players should be allowed to set it as high as 5 minutes or so if they desired, however. Get a good group together with camera and mike support and it would be great.

The kind of people who believe in curses are not going to be swayed by a silly thing like facts.
Kotaku has gotten to where it is today by fostering as much fanboy aruments as humanly imaginable. It's their thang and there's plenty of posters who are more than willing to take the bait.

Me? I'd rather talk about video games.

@DELETED: That was a joke, right? Like, "Haha, if I was an idiot fanboy, I would say something like this...."

No one is going to buy this because it's useless.

@Aimless:

Maybe you should take the time you spend whining on the internet and use it to research products before you buy it? Nahhh.

As a 360 owner, this is the first PS3 game that makes me drool.
