My wife took all of four of our boys to the courthouse one day to pay a parking ticket... None of them thought about the knives in their pockets before getting to security. The officer was a little miffed when each of them put their knives, one after another, in the tray. My wife said you could have heard a pin drop. The officer apparently said something about how he could have confiscated them, but didn't. He just kept them at the gate until they were done.
Nope. Wasn't joking. Sorry for the delayed response. I've never posted with caps before either. I feel passionately about this subject. I like to enjoy good games with my boys, but I'm careful to avoid pervasive profanity. I love the Gears franchise, and appreciate what they've tried to do with the profanity filter. It's not a perfect solution, but I feel there's a real opportunity here for the industry. I know there are many consumers, like me, who purchase with content in mind... It's why we have the rating system. Better tools could really open up doors. I've even went so far as to characterize different concepts that could permit filtering. Consider a release that excluded all profanity and sexual content, garnering a T rating, (maybe?) and then make that content available via DLC for more "edgy" gamers. There's several other ways to pull this off too. Bulletstorm was just over the top and I couldn't partake. I was very disappointed, because the game looked great. I think that many gamers would be surprised to know just how many gamer parents out there are like me in this... And especially non-gamer parents who wont even investigate content beyond the rating. Many have zero tolerance for M rated games, despite what got it that rating. I would love to know what margin this segment represents... I imagine it's substantial, because I know many myself.
CONSUMER TO DEVS: LISTEN. PERVASIVE, HARDCORE PROFANITY KEPT ME FROM THIS PURCHASE. MANY CONSUMERS CRINGE AT HARDCORE PROFANITY AND SEXUAL CONTENT... IF YOU INCLUDE THEM YOU RISK LOSING MANY SALES. WHY NOT GIVE CONSUMERS THE ABILITY TO OPT OUT (LIKE GEARS) BUT STILL PLAY? YOU'LL ELIMINATE THE RISK OF ALIENATION AND POOR SALES. VIOLENT CONTENT SHOULD NOT INFER THE NEED FOR HARDCORE PROFANITY AND SEXUAL CONTENT. THANK YOU.
I think it might be the carrier sites that were creating the grief. Once at&t started giving the P1234 error, Apple couldn't seem to interact with them either. Apple did the right thing here.
I know! In May I had to jump in a pool to rescue my little boy... I had my iPhone 4 in my pocket. It still makes calls, but can't access wifi, and can't take pictures. It's basically destined for the island of misfit gadgets at this point. I'm growing impatient! Please Apple! Take my money already! :)
I think they just want to consistently shift first adopters to their platform. Nothing is being kept from gamers... It's just a matter of timing. This is smart marketing. Serious gamers will likely have more than one platform, and general consumers will pick the game/console that delivers the best content experience. Keep in mind that this isn't about one game, it's a pattern MS is going for on major, multi-platform titles.
Using an SSD consumes more power? This machine should absolutely be equipped with SSD IMO, esp at that price. The price point is high because it took a lot of dev resources on the hardware design... I'm sure it was challenging at times. I applaud them for innovating. I'm sure they're aware that their volumes could be very low, so their supply base is charging premium for components. I just hope that they get adequate volume to help bring the price point down, or that they find success with their niche market... Maybe gen 2 will be more accessible then.
That's an interesting assertion, but what if it's more a matter that gays make product choices that will make them 1) stand out, and 2) find approval by following the latest trends? I sense that organized gay advocacy groups want the rest of us to believe that they should have more voice than might truly be warranted. this comment is not intended to be a jab... It's just another opinion for consideration.
It's good to consider the circumstances and keep a cool head in traffic. Still, truckers are not exempt from showing proper etiquette on the road and being safe. I have no problem with a truck that I catch up with in the left lane and have to wait a bit for. It's the truck that leaps out in front of me last minute as I'm passing right off of his rear, left corner that torques me off... Essentially he's saying "I shouldn't have to wait for you, so you wait for me. This is my road." Screw that trucker! Screw him! Why should I have to brake so that he doesn't have to?
Man, I wouldn't get anything done! Not to be Mr Obvious or anything, but I think we all know about where the Gawker staff stand politically if you've frequented their sites for any length of time. I wonder if we'll ever see an article on the technology that Acorn used to steal the election for Obama. Nope. Probably not.
Wow. What did he use for camera movement? Also, it's so cool to see that the clouds behave like mighty waters. This brings a whole new meaning to Genesis 1:6-8 for me... "Then God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.". Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day."
I honestly haven't seen as much, if any of this coming from Republicans. It's peculiar... Perhaps more conservative folks in the party take more of a personal responsibility to police mature content in all mediums with their children? I use the ESRB data when deciding what's right for my kids. It works just fine.
