A 10 from Eurogamer? That's always been rare, but since they switched to a new system (where they rate everything I've been interested in an 8) it's unheard of.
I can't help but sharing this video. Three year old boy tells his dad a bed time story after his dad tells him The Three Little Pigs. Complete with subtitles, which you should definitely turn on when you watch it. #speakup
@Sir Beefychu: Beefychu, I'd like to thank you for bringing this thread to my attention. For everyone who contributed to the thread, you guys are awesome!
@FarmboyinJapan: And the shadier side...whether it's nudity in Shonan Jump comics, nudity on TV, nudity in anime, taping shut dirty magazines in convenience stores or any of the forms of nudity and sexuality...have all been removed over the last decade and a half.

Seems to me that there used to be sexual titillation in "pure and innocent fun", but with everything that's been "cleaned up", it doesn't surprise me that it's taken on a shadier side.
@Bloodpudding: Wait...you mean it's not about Den-Den's haves and have-nots?
I miss MUGEN. Or rather, I missed the days when there was lot of MUGEN character development and the project seemed to have a lot of momentum.
@shteevie: No, it wasn't a typo. I was pointing out that while the PS2 Slim was superior to the original PS2, the PS3 slim is missing a reasonable number of things that were included with the original PS3.
@xand89: If you waited for a SLIM PS3, you missed out on the following:

*PS2 backwards compatablity
*2x USB ports
*3x Media Ports
* SACD support
*Onboard flash memory (with fat 60gig, if you removed the HDD all your PSN details and users were still stored. On the later models flash memory was removed and all this data was stored on the HDD so it was lost when you upgraded the HDD)
*Main PSU switch on back

I'm not saying that the slim PS2 wasn't a big improvement over the original PS2...it was. But that doesn't mean you're going to get a better PSP2 (The Neo Geo Pocket is what some people think of when they see NGP) if you wait for a hardware revision.
@goldenroad: I agree that they should be pissed at the people abusing geohot's information to ruin games.

PS3 owners should be mad at those hackers.

PS3 owners should also be mad at Sony for not having a better system to ban IPs, MAC addresses, users and/or PS3s from their online system.

The 360 has been open for a long, long time, but I haven't seen one case of hacking in Black Ops for the 360. Clearly opening up a system and ruining it's online multiplayer can and should be two different things.

If Sony was putting as much energy into updating and moderating their online system to stop the people who actually are ruining the online experience as they are into this case, that would be a good thing. That is where their focus should be.
@cosmopanda: If a fully featured media player (hopefully capable of accessing network drives) and emulators (SNES and earlier consoles as well as MAME) are both possible, I'll almost certainly pick one up then.

Granted, as I have no shortage of games to play on the 360, and that's where I can Party Chat with my friends, I probably won't buy many, if any, PS3 games, but I will start buying Blu-rays if I pick up a PS3...but it would take that media player + emulator functionality to get my interest at this point in this console's generation.
@Xeriel: [ca.kotaku.com]

Super obscure, but if you're using the ca.kotaku.com redirect trick, you'll see the old Kotaku page, and if you remove the "gallery/" from the end of the URL, you'll get the old, old awesome Sunday Comics page with all the full comics. :-)

My above first link will show you that page, but I also figured I'd explain how to do it yourself, if you think it's best viewed that way.
My hat is off to the Kotaku editor(s) who not only allowed the Kotaku comic to be the Penny-Arcade choice this week, but was also willing to make it the main image. :-)

(Is that you, Mike Fahey? If so, good job. :-) )
@Peter Pan Complex: There is the ca.kotaku.com method to get the old Kotaku back. That's what I use, and it works well:

[tay.gappoi.org]

That above link is a walkthrough over at Deanb's forum that shows firefox users how to get the old Kotaku site back (for now, at least).

Deanb's forum's actually pretty cool, so for those of you who head over for the link above...stick around and check it out for a bit if you've got time. :-)
@GhostRaven: And yet if Sony changed the firmware to remove the ability to, say...watch Blu-Ray movies, or play PS3 games, there'd be lawsuits and public outrage.

So do you really think the "nobody paid for the firmware" argument is valid...or are you just defending Sony because you don't personal need functionality that Sony advertised, had from the start and then later removed?
@diabadass: Hahaha. Yes. I mean LAUGHable. Big difference. Thank you. :-)
@meanspirit: Hockey, maple syrup and this?

CANADA, HELL YEAH!
Extra Credit's article on Piracy sums up my feelings pretty darn well.

Basically, the idea that this guy did anything illegal is laudable to me.

Shame on Sony for the bullying tactics, and shame on them for removing software functionality that some people (no matter how small a %) bought the console because of.
@gigawings: Look at my post above yours. There's a way to see the old site format without too much hassle. Hopefully it works for a while to come. :-)

Should pull the trigger on a few of those...

Hm...

I am happy reading on my Kindle during my commute, and I don't see any awesome toilet games on there...

Meh, what can I say, iPhone games just can't motivate me to go out there and spend money like a console or portable game can.

If I do make any purchases later, I'll probably get Phoenix Wright, SFIV and Phantasy Star II...but the sad part of that is, I already own all those games. :-P
