Thanks for sharing this Bashcraft... Slam Dunk is one of my top 10 animes of all-time... It's clunky but still was enjoyable. I highly recommend any curious fan to pick this up and watch (you don't necessarily need to be a basketball fan). The comedy is hilarious! And it gives you a window to Japan's high school culture... SOOO AWESOME
In Japanese, he insinuated that he had to play Wii Sports Resort as part of a job (probably had to review it for a TV show, magazine, or blog)
I personally would have liked to have rocked to Mr.Children, B'z, do as infinity, the brilliant green, GLAY, X-Japan
Jpop needs more Do As Infinity, Brilliant Green, B'z, GLAY, L'Arc~en~Ciel, Luna Sea, FLOW, Mr.Children
Less AKB48, Morning Musume, idol garbage...
*sigh* When will Japan ever grow out of the cutsy teenager idol phase?
Agreed, on both points
The 16-bit king in this 4th episode said "It seems that the Kacho is enjoying himself when playing puzzle-type games" (can't remember, was there another screen?)
The closest translation would be "the boss" or "our boss". Literally, it means "Section Manager" or "Manager of [section] department". In Japan, instead of using their first name or Mr. [last name], it's a show of respect to call them by their position, such as Kacho, Kakaricho (junior manager) or Bucho (vice-president), or Shacho (president)
I dunno... I think several games can be categorized as Game Changers: Super Mario Galaxy 1 AND 2, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Sin & Punishment Star Successor, Muramasa, Okami, No More Heroes 1 & 2, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Madworld, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Other M. These are all AAA titles and most of them could not have been developed on any other platform/system other than the Wii. The Wii did have a pretty good run of quality games (although a little short, imho).
How bout "Whew!" as in "Whew! I got me the last Whew just in time before selling out!"

OMG... Watch 12:20, where she says, "We're so proud to present this with our partners at Microsoft."
Apparently, at HSN, Microsoft is showcasing the 3DS on behalf of Nintendo!!!!!!

@R3D-F0X:
Sanma actually said, "So this is the face of that voice of that character..."

"I'm sorry" (meaning I'm sorry that I look like this - It's a common sociocultural phenomenon that Japanese people apologize for things that they don't need to apologize for).

"Sorry? I think its a little too late to apologize..." (meaning that there's nothing that she could do to make amends for her face).
Mr. Ebert, you don't have to play it, but watch Muramasa or Okami (on the Wii) and NOT on youtube. You will admit to your mistake AGAIN!!!
Everytime I hear about this, I remember about that NASA fiasco and their $125 million mistake when their brilliant engineers crashed their Orbiter due to an imperial-metric miscalculation.

LOVE the photo Bashcraft!!! One of my favourite J-drama's OF ALL TIME!!! All otakus unite! In fact, all
k-otakus unite!!

For the unaware, the photo is from a TV-drama series in Japan called "Densha Otoko". HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (if you can dl it with subs) - also, I recommend the TV series (not the movie)

From wiki:
"All based on the purportedly true story of a 23-year-old otaku who intervened when a drunk man was harassing several women on a train.

The event, and the man's subsequent (interactions) with the woman, was chronicled on the Japanese mega-BBS 2chan. This led to the compilation of the relevant threads in a book, followed by several manga versions, a movie, a theatrical play later released as a DVD, and finally a TV series.

Densha Otoko is a popular example of the "nice guy" class of Japanese geeks who wish to lead normal lives, but are too shy to find a girlfriend, or speak openly anywhere but online. The television series uses a large number of computer-bound extras."
