<![CDATA[lordargent commented on Vader Does His Soul Calibur IV Business In Appropriate Surrounds]]> SynKade : As un-fun as it would be, I want a game where everyone uses weapons and 75% of themoves are one-hit kills, just for realism's sake.

1000 times this

/sick of fighting games where deadly weapons magically pass through people doing small amounts of damage.

/They should make a game where almost everything gets blocked (via a blocking animation) without input from the user, HOWEVER, if the user blocks, or does a deflection, they take less damage and have a different animation than the de facto block.

IE

De facto block = grazes an arm/leg instead of chopping the entire thing off. No input from the user required. Does the most damage.

User blocks (hold back), a better deflection. Minimal damage.

User deflects (some sort of keypress), = best block. Can leave opponent open to counterattack.

/in last blade 2, hibiki in power mode can do a slash to the neck/face area that takes off 1/4 th of a persons life. IRL, they would be missing a face/head.

<![CDATA[lordargent commented on Netflix Partners With Microsoft]]> Franklin Comes Alive!: Except they've announced you have to have a Gold Xbox Live account. So really, this is a lie.

By that logic, you're need to purchase an xbox 360.

And internet service.

And a television.

/when they say 'no additional cost', they mean that it's not going to cost you any more than those services already cost you individually.

IE, I already have an xbox and a gold account (and internet service, and a tv :P ), and I already have a netflix account. So at NO ADDITIONAL COST, I will be able to stream netflix videos to my 360.

<![CDATA[lordargent commented on Former Candy Testers Sue Cadbury For Feeding Them Experimental Sweeteners]]> jenl1625: Generally, the folks that get taste-testing jobs at places like this are NOT the "OMG, it's a table full of chocolate - I'm gonna eat till I burst" people. It's more like a wine tester - you have to have the ability to taste subtle things, and point out underlying tastes that most people might not notice outright (the kind of thing where I might be "I don't know why, but I'm just not fond of that particular candy") . . . .

I doubt they're supertasters ([en.wikipedia.org]) given the simple fact that they were paid $10 an hour.

Essentially, I think they were doing the same sort of taste test work that they would have had random people off the street do.

<![CDATA[lordargent commented on Giz Explains: CableCARD and the Future of Cable TV]]> rahilmehta: The biggest tru2way advantage for consumers is that the box becomes an option based on the capability of your TV. You'll finally get the program guide, VOD and other advanced features with a tru3way TV, without a black behemoth next to it.

See, I've been a tivo user for years. Now that I have a series 3 (instead of a series 2) I have absolutely no use for VOD or any of those "advanced" features.

VOD is mostly full of shows and movies that have already aired regularly on channels (for example, I used VOD to watch a few episodes of Rome because I had recorded something else on the tivo when rome was airing.).

With a dual tuner tivo, I haven't run into any such conflict (three shows would have to be on at the same time), I can just record shows/movies when they first air, vs trying to catch up later on with VOD.

/plus the cable boxes were always slow and clunky when dealing with VOD.

/plus I can grab shows from bittorrent and shove them to my tivo using tivo.net

]]>
<![CDATA[lordargent commented on Giz Explains: CableCARD and the Future of Cable TV]]> it was missing stuff like the programming guide and VOD

But they made sure to get broadcast flagging in there, so that now I can't copy shows from my tivo to my laptop or PMP to watch on the go.

/Can't copy old episodes of the twilight zone or outer limits, because they're on the sci-fi channel

/But I can copy new episodes of Heroes with no trouble at all.

<![CDATA[lordargent commented on Dead Rising 2 Set in Vegas ?]]> sarcasmOD: I could never really get into Dead Rising, mostly because I sucked at it. I wish the weapons and such had lasted longer before breaking, though.

<![CDATA[lordargent commented on Happy Bungie Day, Halo 3 Fans!]]> red: thats what i think every time someone says they wont/dont/cant play halo (or the entirity of live) because people are insulting there. its juvenile. its college humour. its full of 12 year olds. etc.

The funny thing is that in ranked games, the opposing team is MUTED in the pre-game lobby and during the match.

They're not muted in the post-game lobby, however it only takes one button press from the party leader (that's YOU if you're playing with yourself [snicker]) to exit the post game lobby.
