From what I remember of immunology early on in the fight, the body has two choices, the cell mediated immune response and the humoral response. The tricky part is that if the body chooses the wrong response, it can lead to death. I know measles is particularly nasty if the body goes down the wrong pathway. It sounds like the previous antibodies to flu caused the wrong response. Maybe someone with more immunology or medicine background can fill us in.
@RenRen: Well Mice and men may have something to do with it. I think that Paul W. Ewald's theory of Toxoplasmosis being a likely cause of schizophrenia is a much more believable than biological clocks. Dr. Ewald teaches at the University of Louisiana and he thinks that a lot of the chronic conditions in our society are diseased based.Toxoplasmosis is a parasite of mice and cats. Eggs are pooped out by the cat, these are eaten by mice (and other animals), the egg hatches in the mouse and move to the tissue. In the mouse, the Toxoplasmosis can and does affects their behavior. The mouse acts erratically and it is more likely to be eaten by the cat. Once the mouse has been eaten by a cat the parasite can complete its life cycle and start producing more eggs... In short, since the winter months are colder, Cats are kept indoors. Cats are the main cause of Toxoplasmosis exposure in Humans. Many schizophrenics show the Toxoplasmosis antibody in their blood results, and on top of that, many mothers of schizophrenics also show the antibody.
@dwasifar: @dwasifar: You can't believe that people are taking Microsoft's side? Really, as a Xbox live subscriber, I support the banning of modded consoles. If someone with a modded console has the ability to ruin my gaming experience by cheating, then they should be banned. Now I do hope that Microsoft has it's act together, and that banning bar has a reasonable threshold certainty to doubt. I am not going to blame the op and say his consoles should have been banned. BUT I am going to remain skeptical of both him and Microsoft. I also won't be buying any used Xbox hard drives or Xbox's.
@goldfarb:
I guess I interpret that quote differently. I read it as saying that these ARE false color AFM images (probably with some flattening to boot), but to the naked eye they would be "transparent structures are instead defined by their topography, geometry and symmetry." As a butterfly wing would look different than the naked eye vs a microscope. Either way, the image of the polystyrene nanosphers is pretty.
