The Japanese No More Heroes had enemies turning in black particles, like really dark smoke. I know this because they included the same change in the European version - very disappointing as I later saw videos on the NA release and the blood is actually very in keeping with the feel of the game.
The next one (5th game) was a 3DS launch title in Japan, it just takes the West another year to get Layton games. So you'll get your 3DS one next year :)
I find the iPhone 4 camera really lacking, especially in non-optimum lighting conditions. I've got a digital camera but y'know I don't carry it around except if I'm on a trip, and if I'm going to take random snaps with my phone I'd like them to look as good as possible.
Having said that, I'm hoping the camera software improvements in iOS 5 will suffice - I probably won't replace my year-old phone.
Like every RPG has done since the dawn of time (just distributed online rather than boxed)? As long as it comes as part of an expansion pack with additional zones/content that sounds great.
OTOH, if you play it for a while and enjoy it enough without any of the premium stuff, you got some fun gaming for free. From the sounds of it, AoEO could really be played pretty fully by just purchasing a premium upgrade for a single civ, which is $20. The 6 month price is crazy though, no argument here.
By all accounts this game is fantastic, and because it's based (in parts very loosely - eg Lucifer uses a cellphone...) on a part of the Bible you won't play it? I guess God of War, Tomb Raider, Uncharted, and anything else which has any relation to a religion of spirituality is off the menu too?
Not trying to be jerk, but your comment made my head hurt. Please go read up on the game before you call it "Christian" (it was developed in Japan for a start).
99% sure it's the Modern Warfare 3 internal multiplayer beta for Activision. They'll be playing it at home on retail 360s to help test the netcode in real-world conditions (a variety of ISPs and bandwidth speeds).
They did the same thing for previous games in the series.
Luke: Is there chance of a new gallery viewer for Kotaku in the near future? I've given up looking through anything with more than 3 or 4 pictures because it's so ass-backwards. Sadly that includes the really good cosplay galleries which have become a regular feature here.
I appreciate this might be a problem across all Gawker sites and so might be out of your hands, though :(
I'm not interested in buying anything from Nintendo's eShops until they implement a central login system with a username and password. Having my purchased content linked to my console rather than an account is madness in this day and age, and I refuse to support their Fisher Price approach to it. Even very very casual gamers are comfortable with having accounts for things online, and those handy "remember my login" checkboxes means you usually only enter it once per system.
Stop protecting us from ourselves, Nintendo. One account for all Nintendo platforms, and let's have a shared Nintendo points balance as well while you're at it. If the WiiU still has you represented online by your console ID (effectively) then it'll be proof that this is all talk, imo.
That's exactly the point. Cutting a third off the price when it's "barely a few months old" shows that Nintendo don't have faith in the handheld's success if they continue through the second half of 2011 at the existing price point. Stephen didn't say the 3DS would fail, but rather that Nintendo correctly identified a problem and have taken a drastic step to overcoming it.
Nintendo's strategy for the 3DS' first few months is what has failed, and so with this price drop and a stronger focus on downloadable games through the eShop they're charting a new course.
