<![CDATA[Comments from James in Dupont]]> <![CDATA[Comments from James in Dupont]]> <![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on First Quantum Of Solace Screens]]> Would someone please write an article for AARP magazine about how horrible movie/tv games our so that grandparents will stop buying them as presents and developers can be relocated to something that isn't horrible?

<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Too Human Hands-On: Six Hours In And Half-Way Home]]> So it's Diablo + God of War? With a crappy camera? Thanks for the warning. Yet another next-generation game to pass up!

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on New Details On DC Universe Online]]> I can't wait to see how SoE fucks this one up. Will I have to make level 20 to get my superhero identity and costume? Will my power not activate at random? This is game is going to be a nightmare!

<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Frankenreview: Alone In The Dark (Xbox 360)]]> I would have paid $60 just for a hi-def remake of the original. Instead we get another shitty sequel. I'll just hold out for RE5.

<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on New Duke Nukem Screen Is Small]]> How does this company still have cash on hand?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Square Enix Classics Start Hitting Japanese PSN]]> Japan gets Rakugachi Showtime TWICE? FUCK THEM! We haven't seen it released here ONE!

They better ports these…

<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on RE5 Race Debate Continues]]> Is a couple of idiot bloggers bitching about a game trailer really just a debate, or just par for course internet stupidity?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on First Look: Deer Hunter Tournament]]> Why isn't this an MMO? I remember people lining up to camp Everquest spawns and staying there for hours or even days! Deer Hunter MMO could be the cheapest and most profitable game ever because the players have incredibly low expectations to begin with!

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on You Don't Know Jack Probably Announced For The Wii]]> I love the wealth of imagination in the game industry today. I mean, I thought all those redundant FPS, sports and racing games were great, but bringing back a low-budget franchise that died a decade ago is brilliant!

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Why Aren't There More Console MMOs?]]> 1- Console keyboards don't have a great track record of being available and working at a reasonable price.

2- MMOs have become RAM hogs. Players don't want to spend hours every day in a world that constantly loads and uses the same boring textures. They want wild variety, especially in their own toons. Good luck pulling that off on consoles.

<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Little Red Riding Hood’s Zombie BBQ? Awesome!]]> Wow, this is the best concept since Smash! TV. Please God, don't let this one be bad!

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on (RIP Soul Calibur: 1998-2008) Yoda, Vader Make SCIV Cover]]> Would it really have killed them to just scale the game back to being a gorgeous and refined version of Soul Calibur? I'm sick of fighting games with MORE MORE MORE crap. Thank God for Capcom going back to the basics with the new SF games.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Turbine Talks Cross-Platform MMOs, Console DDO A Possibility]]> MMOs for the couch potato crowd have so much potential it's scary.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on What Game Genre Leaves You Cold, Oh So Very Cold?]]> Unlocking games: games like Gran Turismo that require countless hours of play to have access to most of a game that costs $5-$10 more than most games.

Stupid hard games: Just put in an easy mode for busy people!

Games that fake being long: These are the games that feature pointless backtracking or especially difficult jumping puzzles so that the marketing department can claim that it takes a long time to beat the game.

The Sims: Why the fuck would I want to interact with virtual people, dogs, etc. when I can just go outside, or for that matter, just play an MMO.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Haze Gets Bargain Binned]]> Remember how games went to $60 because they were all going to be getting so big and awesome? So why are so many of them worse than $40 Wii games?

At least my PS3 is good for Blu-Ray movies and $10 downloads.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on D&D Readies Another Kind Of Online Roleplaying]]> And it only runs on Windows XP. Call me crazy, but when your customers are some of the biggest nerds in the universe, is only supporting XP really a bright idea?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Jack Thompson Walks Out On Hearing, Bar Recommends Enhanced Disbarment]]> Well, it's a start. Hopefully the punishment is severe enough to keep other lawyers from filing more suits on Crazy Jack's behalf.

<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Itagaki Leaving Tecmo, Suing Tecmo]]> Somewhere at Sony, suitcases are being filled with cash.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Sci-Fi Merging MMO With TV Show]]> I could really dig this. What always bugs me about MMOs is the eventual pointlessness of the grinding to get nothing more than access to some other place to grind, in a world that only changes by growing larger. A game with player driven events that actually affect the world-something not seen much outside of the original Asheron's Call-sounds pretty promising.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Come Back To EverQuest, Play For Free]]> This is sort of like offering to sodomize people with broken glass for free.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Say A Proper Hello To Street Fighter IV's Rufus]]> @relic1980: the fat American stereotype is helped along by all the disgusting fat slobs populating the flyover states. The rest of the world doesn't need CNN to know that the people of middle America are physically repugnant.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Vanguard Adds Racial Mounts, Half Elves Screwed Again]]> Every time I see new stuff about Vanguard I wonder why anyone thought putting McQuaid in charge of another games was a good idea.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Whatever Happened to Color?]]> I often wonder how many texture artists grew up in Kansas. The real world consists of a lot less brown than turns up in games. I feel like this reflects the quality of overall art direction; games with great art direction have wide color palettes, games with bland art direction just have bland color.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on What Are Your Game Buy Regrets?]]> I have regretted at least every third game I've ever bought. Here are some big ones:

Madden 2007 (Wii): I couldn't even figure out how to play this fucking game. The tutorial mode was only useful for people who know the PS2 game in and out and just needed to learn the Wii controls.

Final Fantasy VIII: Christ, could Squall have been any MORE emo?

Tekken 4: WTF? It's a bad DOA wannabe with the Tekken characters.

Everquest: So much potential, so many bugs.

GTA3: The sandbox play was just juvenile and the story mode got painfully boring after an hour.

Penny Arcade OtRSPOD: Ok, I really just downloaded the demo. But After I created the character and sat through the very long intro…the screen went black and stayed that way. Adios to that game.

<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on These Are Supposed To Be Starcraft 2's System Specs]]> I can't see Blizz pushing the required card above 128MB. Too many laptop owners have 128MB video setups, and laptops are very popular with college students these days.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Whorelore Incites The Rage Of Bonan]]> The only thing worse than watching ugly people fuck is watching ugly people fuck in stupid costumes.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented]]> @ HOLY SHIT!!!! Look at the size of his guns!

Anyone who spent that much time at the gym would be too sore to fight. But DAMN does this look good!

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Microsoft Explains "Gaywood" Ban]]> So have a name that contains the word gay and lose your Gamertag. Log on and spend eight hours a day calling people "fucking faggots" and maybe you'll get a few warnings or a short ban.

Brilliant policy.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Xbox Live "Gay" Crackdown MIGHT Be Getting A Little Out Of Hand]]> Given how much negative publicity Microsoft gets from its endless fumbling on this issue, wouldn't it be less expensive to just hire a few gamers to play on XBL all day and just swing the banhammer at people who really deserve it?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Haze Review: It Sure Beats Pumping Gas]]> Another mediocre FPS-these games are becoming the defining feature of this generation of gaming. Hell, I'm getting to the point where I can name a lot more games I DON'T want to play than games I do, and most of the good games are $10 downloads! How about the big developers spending the extra money from the higher prices of this generation to experiment with good gameplay instead of just spewing a bunch of lighting effects and motion blur around?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Gov. Perry to Keynote E3]]> Is that the same Texas governor who told gay Texan soldiers coming back from Iraq that Texas didn't want them? Nice to see that E3 has plenty of class and dignity.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on The Week in Games: Always Seek Balance Board, Daniel-San]]> PAA looks interesting. Everything else it lame or just another game I've already played when it had a different name and a lower polygon count.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Smedley - MMOs To Sell PS3s]]> Nothing makes me think MMOs on the PS3 will suck more than Smedly being the guy who says they'll succeed. Anybody else remember when SOE couldn't fix the boats in Everquest and just added NPCs to teleport players around instead? And does anyone think that kind of crap will fly with console gamers?

Hell, how many console gamers gave up on PC gaming because of PC game companies like SOE?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Peter Moore Wants More "Shallow Pool" Wii Games]]> Maybe the problem is just that EA Sports games come with shitty manuals and shitty tutorials. That's why I bought Madden 2007 and gave up on figuring it out. If Squenix can build a convoluted JRPG that I can figure out in ten minutes without even knowing the language, why the hell can't EA?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Unreal Tournament III 360 Reminds Us We'd Forgotten About It]]> UT 3 isn't a bad game. But it sure as hell isn't worth the $60 it costs to get it on a console.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on GT Might Get Training Wheels After All]]> How about just an option that lets me have access to all of the tracks and cars I paid for without spending a couple of months unlocking them all? I don't play GT for the same reason I don't play WoW: it's not a game, it's a fucking JOB.

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Ian Bogost on Spore's Universal (?) Appeal]]> Maybe people are just intimidated. After all these years of hype Spore must be so good that nobody can handle it, right? I mean, when was the last time a game got this much hype over so many years? Daikatana?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Super Smash Bros. Brawl Producer Pines For New Nintendo Characters]]> More characters just means more sequels and crappy fan-service games. How about just not creating more franchising and focusing on creative games instead?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Crisis Core Review: Zack Fair In Love And War]]> Unskippable Cutscenes

I kind of wanted to play this game until I found about that. What the hell is wrong with game developers?

]]>
<![CDATA[James in Dupont commented on Get Prey For $4.95 This Weekend]]> I would, but Steam only supports crap operating systems. Oh well, maybe Valve can get my $5 when Gabe Newell grows a fucking brain and stops living in 1997.
