Saw this comment in the Eidos post and figured I'd send you a message so that it didn't get lost in the comments.
If you've got a PS3 with backwards compatibility, check out Timesplitters: Fuiure Perfect for the PS2. It's a couple years old, but you can probably pick it up at a GameStop for under $20.
The game's got an enjoyable campaign that's fully co-op, and it's got local multiplayer with bots, so you and your wife can set up all sorts of capture the flag and deathmatch games to play together with and against the bots. Fun game.
