Sunday Night With Mad Men

Once again, it's time for your Sunday night
Mad Men fix. Tonight's episode is titled "The Jet Set," and it's centered around Don Draper's business trip to L.A. It's pretty safe to say that the L.A. sets and costumes will be awesome; let's hope the rest of the episode is as well. Thanks for another lovely weekend!

Should Columbus Day Go Away?

In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. And then he got lost, you guys, and ended up in the Bahamas, which he referred to as San Salvador, when he was supposed to be sailing to the East Indies. Whoops! Without even realizing it, Columbus had made a discovery that would open up North America to the rest of the world, and the United States has been celebrating this "discovery" since 1792. But should the tradition continue?

In times of crisis, Americans tend to turn to good old fashioned escapism. That might explain why "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" has
taken the top spot at the box office for the second week in a row, beating out such competitors as the horror flick
Quarantine and the new film featuring Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio,
Body of Lies. Movie tickets aren't cheap, so perhaps people are dialing back on movies that might not necessarily lift their moods at this point. Either that, or American audiences just really, really love movies about tiny, talking dogs.

106-Year-Old Nun Will Be Voting For Obama In November

Sister Cecilia Gaudette, a 106-year old Catholic nun who lives abroad in Rome, has informed the BBC that she has registered as a Democrat and
will be voting for Barack Obama on Election Day. Though Sister Cecilia has not voted in over 50 years, with her last vote being cast for Dwight D. Eisenhower (!) in 1952, she claims that she is "encouraged" by Senator Obama, and feels that Obama "seems to be a good man with a good private life. That's the first thing," Gaudette notes, "then he must be able to govern."

Are You Ready For The 90's Revival?

Over the past few years, we've watched Hollywood starlets activate their flux capacitors in order to bring back trends from the deepest, darkest fashion pits of the 80's. Leggings, leg-warmers, headbands, and logo t-shirts have been all the rage as of late. Some of us have embraced these trends, some of us have shunned them, and some of us already had our fill of looking like an extra in Olivia Newton John's "Physical" video the first time around, thanks very much. And though the 80's revival is still going strong, it's hard to ignore the signs that a 90's revival is also well underway.

Letterman, On The Other Hand, Is A Go For McCain

Though SNL is denying reports that Sarah Palin will join the program on October 25, the Associated Press is now reporting that John McCain, who ditched David Letterman to "suspend" his campaign and save America, will have a
chance to make up with the
Late Show host, who was none too happy with McCain's last-minute withdrawal from the program on September 24. Letterman has spent the better part of the last month ripping on McCain, who has appeared on the show a dozen times over the years. McCain's appearance is scheduled for this Thursday. I think it's pretty safe to say he'll show up this time; hell hath no fury like a Letterman scorned.
